It's not clear how Clark gets a job at the Daily Planet. He hasn't written since high school, he doesn't have a college degree, he has no samples or references, and the newspaper is owned by LuthorCorp and Lex knows his secret identity. Under those circumstances it would be impossible for anyone to gain employment as a reporter, particularly on as short a notice as is shown here.
Despite the fact that Lex has only been gone four weeks, the dust in his office is at least several months thick.
After the Martian Manhunter lifted Clark up and they both fly up to the sky, Chloe and Oliver are facing down, at the lower part of the window. Then, in the next shot, they are looking up, at the broken window and the sky.
After Black Canary throws her bladed weapon into a man's chest, the next shot has Green Arrow rolling and facing two armed men, with a third one to his right partially turned in his direction. He shoots one man, and the other two just... disappear.
Clark: (referring to Lois' stolen gun) Would you mind not pointing that thing at me?
Lois: God, Clark, I'm not aiming at you. (Clark gives her a doubtful look) What? I'm not. Besides, it's only your kneecap.
Clark: That makes me feel better.
Lois: Look, I know that you're nervous, Smallville, but you got to remember, I grew up around Green Berets and Navy SEALs, not corn stalks and Jersey cows. You stick with me and I'll protect you. You'll be fine.
Oliver: I'd be careful, Clark. Pretty soon, you'll be sporting a homemade costume and leading a double identity just like the rest of us.
Dinah: You might want to try a little more formfitting.
John: How does it feel to be whole again?
Clark: I was dying. You saved me. You brought me to some white light.
John: The healing effect of the sun brought you back from death. I promised Jor-El that I would only be a watchful guardian, but I could not stand by and let you die.
Clark: You shouldn't have had to.
John: Jor-El knew he was sending you on an impossible odyssey. To be the given the power of a god... yet exist among humans.
Clark: Sometimes I feel like I need to be two separate people. Either way, I can't keep expecting you to save me.
John: Well, that was the last time. The burning sun may strengthen you, but it has the opposite effect on me. It stripped me of my powers. And we both know... that yours is a greater destiny. But with the Fortress destroyed, you'll have to do it without Jor-El's guidance.
Clark: Or anyone else's.
Oliver: Clark would never give up on us. We're not giving up on him.
Clark: (squeaking the chair) I'm sorry, is this bothering you?
Lois: The chair, or you in it?
Clark: I've written eulogies. I've seen people walk away from me. But I've never really said goodbye.
Tess: Per Lex's written instructions, I'm now the acting CEO of LuthorCorp and all its subsidiaries.
Regan: You're nothing but an obscure regional VP. You actually believe you're qualified?
Tess: Lex believes it, and that's all that matters.
Lois: If you're not a secretary, who are you? Lex's four o'clock booty call?
Tess: Mr. Luthor is a firm believer in truth and justice, Miss Lane. You can rest assured if he had your cousin arrested, she was guilty.
Oliver: What's the matter, huh, your batteries run out?
Clark: I've got a little more juice left.
Clark: How does an ice fortress disappear into thin air?
Oliver: I feel like there's a punch line to that question.
Regan: You weren't up there scouring the Arctic for Lex. You were looking for someone else. The Traveler.
Arthur: Who's that, some frequent flyer?
Oliver: Stay behind me.
Clark: No, we'll cover more ground if we split up.
Oliver: And what are you going to do if you get caught, bite someone?
Lois: What are you doing here?
Clark: I heard they had good expresso.
Lois: You disappear for a month and come back with a sense of humor?
Clark: I've been tracking Chloe down. The question is, how did you get here?
Lois: Feminine charm.
Lois: Yes, I do have some.
Clark: Great job of protecting your short supply of it.
Lois: Why don't you give your stand-up a rest and do exactly what I tell you? That way we can find Chloe and stay alive at the same time.
Tess: Trust me, Lex Luthor did not meet his end on some dwindling ice cap.
Regan: (to Green Arrow) There's a reason cowboys won the west. Playing with bows and arrows can only get you so far.

As of this episode, Tom Welling (Clark Kent) is the only actor to appear in every episode to date. Prior to this episode, Michael Rosenbaum (Lex Luthor) was the only other actor to appear in every episode.
Injoke: The new CEO of LuthorCorp is Tess Mercer. This is a play on Lex's secretary in the Superman movies (Superman and Superman II), Ms. Teschmacher. She was played by Valerie Perrine in 1978 and 1980 respectively. Also, her last name of Mercer is a reference to Mercy Graves, Lex's similarly devoted bodyguard from Superman the Animated Series.
Injoke: Oliver uses the alias of "Roy Connor," a compound of two DC superheroes, Roy Harper (Speedy/Red Arrow) and Connor Hawke (the second Green Arrow), the adopted ward and blood son respectively of Green Arrow in the comic books.
Justin Hartley, Sam Witwer, and Cassidy Freeman are added to the opening credits. John Glover, Laura Vandervoort, Kristin Kreuk, and Michael Rosenbaum are removed. The new opening credits are ordered: Tom Welling, Allison Mack, Erica Durance, Aaron Ashmore, Cassidy Freeman, Sam Witwer, and Justin Hartley. Sam Witwer doesn't appear.
