  • Awesome to see Clark and Lois together... too bad she won't remember it now :(

I can watch this episode over and over, mostly because of the Clark & Lois romance. But there are so many things that sort of confused me. Tess she is bi polar .... seriously she thought she was saving earth? I just think she is one of those control freaks and is only happy if she is in the center of the action weather good or bad. I am not quite sure I believe Cloe would be so mad at Clark for taking off because he was missing Lois. I also wonder ... when the sun turned yellow again why did that girl still have her power to move fast. Did she have her powers when she came back in time... trying to remember.. but if she did .. how? Oh and how did Zod she had that ring in her pocket? I did now see her putting it there... and it was not like he was looking for it because he asked what it was. At least the could have shown her trying to hide it to make that make sense. And wow... how many Kandorians are there anyway? And what is that crap Zod spouts... another control freak... my way or the highway. and that twist about Clark destroying the world..... "the our world" of the red sun, yes? but not the world.moreless

A great episode that really had a season finale feel to it. Cutting the season short might not be too bad when it comes to quality, but who knows how the rest of the season will be, hopefully it goes well. This episode surely was promising for the things to come, we already have a way better season arc than we did last season.

We've got some great climactic scenes that just surpassed the climax of the season 8 finale in so many ways. We also just got a lot of buzz worthy stuff here. All of Lois' visions coming true, from her & Clark having sex, to Chloe & Tess' death. By the way how awesome was Chloe's death? Not saying that I want her dead, but it was such a great scene.

Smallville has become more gruesome over the years and this was an example of that, like having a sword go through Chloe and watch her fall to her death in her own puddle of blood, that's gruesome. The ending, we got a hinting of Clark & Lois' relationship, and they weren't bad here, not at all.

So we got a lot of great scenes, great performances from the actors, and a promising story arc. Where was this writing in the beginning of the season? A superb episode of Smallville.moreless
  • While Lois lies in a coma, Tess attempts to recover Lois's memories of the future. Meanwhile, Clark comes to a decision regarding Zod and the Kandorians. (WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD)

Wow! That was such a Clois overload, my systems nearly shut down. ;) Though I'm glad they both finally realized their feelings for each other, and became 'an item' (what does that even mean anyways?). I'm also glad we *finally* got to see what happened in the future, as opposed to the agonizing glimpses viewers had previously been offered. In fact, there was only one thing I didn't like about this episode: Tess. It's frustrating to see her keep doing the Lex thing and lying about what she's doing or why she's doing it. I mean, she keeps saying she wants Clark to trust her and confide in her; my advice is she start telling the truth for once! Anyways, I don't understand why she had to go and shoot Stuart, just as I was starting to take a shine to him. Then again, I never understand why Tess does anything that she does, including teaming up with Zod to "save the Earth" (someone please explain *that* logic to me). In any case, I give PANDORA nine solar towers out of ten.

Highlights -- Flashback (or flashforward) of Lois waking up in the future; flashback of Lois running into Clark; flashback of Lois standing up to Zod and Tess; flashback of Lois being rescued by Clark, Oliver, and Chloe; Clark coming to Lois's rescue and getting pulled into her memories; flashback of Clark, Lois, Chloe, and Oliver teaming up; flashback of Lois and Clark making love; flashback of Lois visiting Watchtower for the first time, then putting her, Clark, Chloe, and Oliver's plan into action against Zod and the Kandorians; Clark and Lois agreeing to take their time with the relationship, then hand-holding in the elevator; Clark, Chloe, and Oliver discussing Lois and the future; and Clark approaching Zod and the Kandorians, who "kneel before Kal-El."moreless
  • Poor exposition

    6.0
I don't get what was going on. Were a handful of Kandorians ruling a whole planet from Lex's Smallville mansion? If so, how did they manage that? If not, why didn't some other country send in an army to take them out? Why did the red sun take away Clark's powers (that part's from the comics) but GIVE them to the Kandorians? Why did Lois develop suppressed memories when the whole point was for her to go back in time to warn people? Didn't it occur to somebody to give her a book or other record to tell the people of the past details of what happened (but, of course, that would have ruined the plot)? On the other hand, the off-color camera work to represent the red sun was great, plus giving the landscape an "infernal" look (Sir Arthur Clarke had the same idea in CHILDHOOD'S END 60 years ago)moreless
  • We finally see what happened to Lois in her trip to the future.

    10
Tess kidnaps Lois from the hospital after Lois falls into a coma after her memories affect her. Clark goes after Chloe, thinking she was the kidnapper, who quickly disabuses him of his idea. Tess manages to get into Lois' memory and we see that Lois flashed a year ahead. First of all, awesome episode. We finally get some idea as to what happened. We find out that the world has been conquered by Zod and his followers, Clark is imprisoned at the farm, and Chloe and Oliver have been leading a resistance against Zod using kryptonite weapons. Clark and Lois are rescued by the resistance, but not before Zod gets his hands on the Legion ring. But none of this is as awesome as the sex scene we finally get with Lois and Clark. Yes I know, pervert. But still, we've been waiting for something to happen between those two and we finally get a peek here. The best part? Somehow clark ends up rescuing Lois in present day, accidentally getting a view into Lois' memories, and seeing what happens. Yes, Chloe and Oliver die, probably Clark too, but we finally get to see how deeply Clark cares about Lois.moreless

  • TRIVIA (3)

    • When Chloe dies, her eyes close. But in Lois' previous flashback visions, it shows Chloe dead with her eyes open. She is also lying on her stomach in the flashbacks, but here, Lois turns her over and Chloe eventually dies in her arms.

    • When Oliver was burying Tess, you could clearly see the actress squint as the dirt was poured on her face.

    • Oliver and Chloe say that the Kandorians get their power from the Tower, which steals sunlight, and the LuthorCorp satellites, which beam it back down to the Earth. But after the Tower is shut down, Alia still has her powers.

  • QUOTES (7)

    • Tess: They're called boundaries, Stuart--find some.

    • Zod: I'm General Zod. And all of this is mine to give if you give me the names of whoever snuck you into the restricted zone.
Lois: My dad's a general, too.
      Zod: Oh?
Lois: And he still couldn't get me to spill how I got an M1 Abrams tank to take me to the prom. So I'm definitely not telling you anything.

    • Lois: Stop beating yourself up. You're not alone in this. The truth is, we could all die tomorrow.
Clark: Lois, I died when you left.

    • (seeing the Watchtower)
Lois: Okay, Chloe, remember when we were 10 and I kicked you out of my clubhouse for spilling soda and you said you'd just build a cooler one? You win.

    • Zod: You chose to fight me! You forced me to unleash my power! We could have made this planet a paradise!
Clark: It always was. But you never gave humanity a chance.

    • Clark: Lois, what are we doing?
Lois: I'm eating a maple doughnut, and you're kind of invading my personal space.

    • Clark: I understand you've been looking for me.
Zod: My brother and sister Kandorians, he has come. Kneel before Kal-El.
