The painfull Clark and Lana "love story?" comes to a crashing halt in this episode and despite the truly emotional and heartbreaking scene at the end I was left feeling that the writers cheated somewhat by having Lana get infected with Kryptonite so that there is an actual physical reason that Clark and Lana can't be together rather than just the emotional issues that plauged their relationship. It would have been better if they had chosen to end their "relationship" and go their seperate ways rather than be forced. But I guess that's the irony to their "thing', Lana and Clark were always being forced into moving forward, usually by Lex!moreless

  • Lois is still babysitting her cousin's husband, Clark loses Lana for good, Green Arrow commits murder, and Lex dies. So many things went wrong with this episode...

One question, who hired the writers of Smallville? They need to be fired along with the writers. Each episode they produce gets more lazy and sloppy. Lois originally went with Jimmy to the hospital because Chloe was missing. Well Chloe has been back for quite awhile but she hasn't gone to be with her brand new husband to relieve Lois. What kind of a wife does that? Guess she skipped over the "In sickness and in health" part of her vows.

Breaking up Clark and Lana the way they did was terrible. Yes is was powerful and even brought a tear to my eye but it left no room for hope for a "true love/destined" relationship for Lois and Clark. The split needed to be on Clark's terms so that he would be able to let her go instead of always wishing he could be with her. They should have had Lana turn corrupt so that Clark would have realized she was never the girl for him. Since they have made him into such a pathetic sap over Lana, any relationship with Lois will be unbelievable at best. He now thinks that he can never have Lana so he'll settle for what he thinks is second best, Lois. How is this fair for them? The writers have just made their jobs harder and considering their sloppy, lazy writing style, this newly budding Clois relationship is never going to be believable. I used to love this show because of the Clois moments. Now, whenever Lois and Clark finally do hook up, I'm sure I won't be the only viewer thinking "this isn't right, he's only settling for Lois because of what happened to Lana. They're supposed to be destined to be together." It will be bitter sweet.

Good luck writers, you've got a lot of work to do to clean up the mess you've just created.moreless

I've been waiting for this episode since season 6/7ish. WHen Lana's char was basically irrlevant. The episode has a terrible opening bedroom scene but a great finale scene. The finale was actually really good and should the heartbreak b/w LARK. only wish this was done 2 years ago so they could have had more years of CLARK/LOIS or even CLARK/CHLOE instead of having him hang around with nothing but the ocaissonal Lana bedroom tussle.........RIP CLANA / LARK BTW . . . Good Luck to Kristin Kreuk (although she may make some guest appearances).... your going to need it with your acting skills.moreless

  • Oliver is attacked by a former employee, Clark is a sappy fool over Lana, and Lana and her issues seem to be everywhere!

After all the suffering the Clois fans endured we've been put through the ringer again. Yes I know lots of Clana fans still exist, but come on! Everyone already knows the ending of the story, Clark becomes Superman, Lois and Clark end up together, Lex becomes his nemeses, and he goes on to save the world on a daily basis...Did anyone tell the writers this?! I wonder if anyone's informed them of this slight tweak. Not to mention that they blow Lex up, presumably killing him. The only good part to this episode was that Lana is hopefully out of the picture for good.moreless

The episode "Requiem" has one main plot with other small plots. The main plot is about a toymaker named Winslow Schott who plants a bomb in the board room of LutherCorp killing all of it board members. The intended target was Oliver Queen, who escapes with minor injuries. Oliver Queen with the help of Tess Mercer bought controlling interest in LutherCorp. Winslow again tries to kill Oliver Queen in the hospital, but Oliver uses his skills to stop the bomb and escape. Winslow plants a bomb at the Daily Planet. In one scene we see that Lex Luthor is pulling Winslow's strings.

Clark and Lana find the bomb on the roof of the Daily Planet but it has enough kryptonite that Lana's skin suit will absorb enough so that her and Clark will never be able to be together again. They decide to defuse the bomb and forgo their love. After this Clark uses the Lex tracker that Chloe gave him and finds where Lex is. Clark has decided to kill him for what he has done to him and Lana, but Lana shows up and stops him. She tells Clark that he is not that person and as they are talking, the large vehicle that Lex is in blows up.

After the smoke clears, Chloe confronts Oliver because she knows he is the one that blew up the truck that Lex was in. It is also confirmed that Lex's remains were in the truck.

Clark goes into the barn and Lana is there. They talk about how they will always remember each other. Clark musters all of his strength fighting the kryptonite and gives Lana one last kiss.moreless

    • In the scene Clark puts the necklace on Lana, the necklace is in her shirt instead of out of it for part of the scene. Edit
    • Schott says the monkey-bomb will explode after it clanks its cymbals together 53 times. When Oliver says it has clapped 28 times, it has actually clapped 50. It does so 78 times and never explodes. Edit
    • Lana says she's searched the entire Daily Planet building, and has superspeed. However, she somehow fails to see the very large obvious kryptonite bomb on the roof. Edit

    • The Toyman Winslow Schott first appeared in Action Comics #64 (Sept. 1943) and was created by Don Cameron and Ed Dobrotka. His origin has been retconned several times, but the origin used here resembles the post-Crisis Toyman, an unemployed toymaker who blames a company owner (Oliver Queen in this case) for being fired from his company. Several other villains have taken the name Toyman, and different incarnations have appeared in Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman, Challenge of the Superfriends, Superman: The Animated Series, and Superman: Doomsday. • Lana: That night, at the cemetary, when I introduced you to my mom and dad, you told me that I would never be alone. That my mom would always be watching over me. If we're in each other's hearts, Clark, I will always be with you. No matter what. I love you. Clark: (after Lana leaves) I love you. Edit
    • Lana: Clark, we made our choice on that roof. And I know we would do it again, because both of us are driven to do this. Even if we can't do it together. Edit
    • Lex: Clark Kent and Lana Lang, welcome to your destiny. You've destroyed me in every way, so now I'm going to take away what matters most to you. Lana: Lex? Lex: Do you know what people remember about the greatest star-crossed romances? Not how the lovers met, but the way the relationship tragically ended. The skin Lana's wearing was designed to absorb enough meteor rock that you'll never be able to go near her again. Clark: You're a coward, Lex. Come out here. Face us! Lex: No, Clark. It's time for you to face your defining moment. You can walk away, sacrificing innocent lives to stay together, or defuse the bomb and sacrifice your love forever. Edit
