The best scenes were definitely between Chloe & Tess, we've got a great lock down, and their plot kept me intrigued throughout the entire episode. We've got great development here and a great setup for the finale. Things have been heating up for Smallville with this Checkmate arc, and the writing has improved since then.

We got such intense scenes from Chloe not sure whether she should revive Tess or not to the confrontation between Zod and Faora and the viewers finding out she was pregnant, her dying was just extremely morbid with her being pregnant. I hadn't seen that kind of drama on my TV screen in a while.

We all know what made this episode way better. That's right, Erica Durance was absent. Her absence always seems to bode well for this show, and it did here. Cassidy Freeman is just a way better actress than anyone on here, and her talents are underrated. We saw a lot of her here, and the she was the strongest link of the cast.

Overall, a great episode, that will keep you enticed for the next episode.moreless

OK i thought this was a thrilling original piece of work the acting was above the usual it was more original and new than other episodes it was unusual having Chloe and Tess teaming up to survive like that Clark/Lex Luthor partnership to survive was brilliant and i thought the twist that Chloe's BRAINS! saved her and Tess's life and it was more action filled than all the others of this brilliant slow season because all the other episodes of the season was slow and calm now the action has finally happened the Kandorians turning against the humans, Brilliant plot twist and faora's death was very unexpected and the acting was great Special Effects were above standard.

    The plot brilliant

After weeks of leaving out pivotal pieces (and characters) of the puzzle, everything but the kitchen sink is tossed into this episode! The writers are clearly gunning for fireworks come finale time and it sorta works in building up some tension, but I still can't ignore the glaring plot-holes or sloppy writing (there are quite a few last minute get-out-of-jail epiphanies here that really irked me).

In last month's issue I complained about Zod's inability to muster up any kind of noticeable threat factor. This week, he's shown in a rather brutal light, and while it certainly gives the character a maniacal edge, he's not the only one vying for the villain-of-the-season award, as Tess and Checkmate are up to their own nefarious shenanigans, which only serves to highlight how inefficient Checkmate is as an organization and how utterly useless Tess is as a character.

Unfortunately Chloe has also become victim of bad character development and things aren't looking good for the once loveable hacker. It has yet to be announced whether Allison Mack will sign on for another season, and to be perfectly honest, I wouldn't blame her of she didn't. Chloe hasn't had a decent storyline all season (save for a mostly off-screen romance with Oliver) and with Watchtower now effectively destroyed, there's very little keeping Chloe safe from the season finale reaper. (Of course, she could very well turn out to be the Red Queen, but more on that later…)

  • WOW!!!!

    10
This episode was fantastic!! Personally i loved the Chloe/Tess story line. Tess, in a way, brought Chloe "back to life" if you will. She showed her that watchtower was consuming her life, and as bad as it would be to destroy all of the information in watchtower, it was for the better to stay away from that part of her life for a little bit, take a deep breath and start back up. The only thing that i don't understand is how exactly Tess got in and what was she looking for if Checkmate was already hacking into the computers why was she even there????? Zod is now officially the new bad guy. up to now i was not totally convinced that he could be the new bad guy and was kind of expecting another Doomsday experience .(And no one wants that again!) But when he killed his unborn son, i knew that that was what would push him over the edge. Clark played more of a minor role this week, and i am kind of OK with that, you need some episodes that contain different story lines and different characters every now and then. On the other hand i was very proud of Oliver. he really stepped up in my mind. This was an Oliver episode and it was perfect. I just hope that Checkmate is not gone. I personally thought that the whole Checkmate idea was very smart and i was hoping that it would go for more than a few episodes (i was planing on at least the end of the season, if not into next season) I hope that Waller is alive and better than ever in order to continue on Checkmate. Over all i thought that this was a fantastic episode and i cant wait to see the last two of the season, i hope that they are this good!!!!!!!!moreless
  • So many stories tied into one episode

I was thrilled to see this episode. It was a joy to watch this episode. We saw Major Zod turn into General Zod. He's pure villain and he has his army following his dirty work. I hope Waller isn't dead, she was good. I want to see more of Checkmate and hope it spills over to season 10. But Chloe and Tess have tension between them and Chloe saved Tess' life. But I doubt that Tess will keep her mouth shut. We are talking about Tess here and did you guys see that smirk on her face? Whatever Tess does, will probably be the downfall of her. Next week looks promising. This season is by far the best!moreless

FILTER BY TYPE

  • TRIVIA (2)

    • The password, 051409, that Chloe uses to enter Watchtower is the original airdate of "Doomsday" and the supposed day of Jimmy's death. However in "Savior," which took place three weeks after the events of "Doomsday," the date was revealed as September 25, 2009. Therefore, Jimmy's death took place in early September, not in May, making the date in the password seemingly irrelevant to Chloe.

    • Tess says she used a DNA cloak to get into Watchtower, using cell samples from Chloe. However, that doesn't account for how she got past Chloe's state-of-the-art high-tech voiceprint and fingerprint scanners, which we see when Chloe comes in. Given Chloe's knowledge and expertise, it seems unlikely in the extreme that she'd created flawed security systems covering all three elements.

  • QUOTES (8)

    • Coffee Vendor: You know, I've been meaning to ask. What kind of job has a pretty young lady working all night, every night?
Chloe: Actually, I work for a non-profit organization. We help people in need.
Coffee Vendor: Trying to save the world, huh?
      Chloe: All night, every night.

    • Clark: I let myself in.
Oliver: Terrific. You, uh, hop up to the helipad, or just superspeed past security, Clark?
      Clark: I used the elevator.
      Oliver: How human of you.

    • Tess: All I wanted to do was erase any info you had on the Kandorians, not reroute it.
Chloe: I knew you were the Kandorians' lapdog, but I didn't realize you were Zod's little bitch, too.

    • Chloe: Fever-colored lipstick? Really?
Tess: Well, I was going to go with Plain Jane, but you seem to have that market cornered.

    • Zod: You are unmistakeably the one they call Green Arrow... a rebel with many causes.
Green Arrow: I'm glad to know my reputation still precedes me. You must be Zod... soldier with no army.
Zod: Hmm. I see my reputation precedes me, too.

    • Tess: Asphyxiation or firing squad.
Chloe: Damned if we do, damned if we don't.
      Tess: Just damned.

    • Clark: This baby is proof that you can still have a life here... apart from Zod, without powers. Faora... Krypton lives on through you.

    • Basquat: They will hunt us to the last man. But they will fail, for we shall never be defeated. We will follow General Zod to the ends of this Earth.
