  • Brainiac is back with a vengeance.

This episode could have been better. For anyone that doesn't know it,this was supposed to be the Season 7 finale had the WGA strike not been over.Even though, the strike was finished and we got 5 more episoded,Veritas was hampered. The producers were forced to take some bery important material from the episode and insert it into the next ones. One of those scenes was Lionel's murder.Another is a shot we never saw:Lex walking towards the Fortress at daytime. With all this tinkering taking place,Veritas still had a good plot but it never climaxed as an episode.Despite that,we had some powerful scenes.Brainiac's attack on Lana was one such scene. It was also a realization of how much this show has changed since the first couple of seasons.Another good scene was the final one.Even though it might have dragged on for too long,it showcased how much Tom Welling has improved as an actor.Too bad his Clark character wasn't in form here.It was poor writing. They teased us that he would try to fly but his reaction to Kara's training was a majot turn off.I am really glad they have turned him around in season 8.Lana didn't perform much.It would be her last live appearance in an episode until Bride. This episode was about Lex and him searching for the Traveler.Even though his story was cut short due to the Lionel murder scene being moved,he still had a good episode. It was the final full episode for John Glover and he is dearly missed.I really liked his scene with Chloe. He played the nearly paranoid man briliantly.Him getting on his knees showed how much power he has lost in recent years.Check out all of his scenes with Chloe in season 3 to see what i am talking about.Chloe had a quite episode but she really brought it in her scene with Lionel.Kara had a good episode and i would have really appreciated it had they explained what is the significance of her bracelet.Jimmy and Lis were their usual selves. Finally,i liked James Masters' performance but what's new? After Christopher Reeve he is the best guest star the show has ever had.Overall it was a good episode,i just wish i could see it in it's original version.
