  • Bigfoot's stalking the Tennessee woods.

On a camping trip, Fi gets lost and is saved by a mysterious Bigfoot creature. After following the creature back to its cave, she discovers crude drawings on the wall, a human skeleton, and a diary and a locket which the Bigfoot creature gives her. After reading the diary, she discovers that the skeleton was a Civil War soldier who was fatally wounded in the Battle of Shiloh. The Bigfoot creature found him and brought him back to his cave, and attempted to nurse him back to help. When the man heard his would-be rescuers calling for him, he remained silent, knowing that if they found the Bigfoot creature they would kill him out of fear and ignorance. In his last words in his diary, he asks that if anyone should read his diary, to tell his family that he was not a deserter, but an honorable man.

Fi then discovers that the Bigfoot creature may be found soon - according to a map she has they will be building the new visiting center right over the cave. Fi must hide from the people searching for her as she leads Bigfoot to a new home, where he can live undiscovered.

Later, she sends a letter and the man's locket to his descendants, telling them that he was a good man and an honarable soldier.

While I liked this episode, it's my least favorite of the first season. The Bigfoot costume was a bit fake, most likely because they didn't want to scare the children so much. Also, Jack gets so desperate to find Fi he tries using ESP - which is completely out of character for him.

    • Fi: This place must be swarming with unsettled spirits.

    • Fi: (narrating) This is Australopithecus, everybody's great-great-grandfather. Well, great-great-great-great whatever. Way back there. Let's call him Grampa. But was Grampa the only one who made it? Or did he have cousins? A lot of people think so. In fact, in almost every part of the world, there have been reports of unclassified primates. Ape-men, even ape-women and ape-kids. They're called different things, depending on where they are. The almas in Mongolia, the yeti in Tibet, the yowie in Australia and the sasquatch in North America. They've been caught on film, left footprints and hair samples. But scientists still refuse to believe they could be real. Still, you have to ask yourself, are we really the only ones in this family?

    • Fi: Wait, wait Big Foot where are you going? Hey Big Foot. Right Fiona. Call him Big Foot. What's his middle name, Fuzzy?
