TRIVIA: Mackenzie Phillips performs the song "In the Darkness" in this episode.
In a wide shot of the backyard, Jack does not appear to be in the pool. Also when he is in the pool no splashing noises are heard at all.
Fi: What?
Ryan: Sorry. I just didn't know that you'd be so pretty.
Fi (narrating): This is me at age six, starring in the way off broadway musical Les Vegetables. I'm the tomato waving to our mom. Although I later found out that the average tomato doesn't even have a mom. But tomatos have at least one thing in common people: we both have millions of genes inside of us. That's genes with a g, by the way. The more scientist find out about our genes, the more they understand what makes us tick. Some even say you can even tell everything about us by what's in our genes. But I can't help thinking that inside every living creature, there's something else. Something special. And if the scientists aren't careful, they might miss it.
Jack: I am one with the water.
Fi (holding two candy bars): You'd think a medical research lab would have healthier snacks in the vending machines.
Fi: So, that campus tour we talked about you taking…
Jack: I'll come back for you in two hours. Page me if you go anywhere. But don't go anywhere.
Fi: The one time I want my life to be normal…
Molly: When it comes to boys, Fi, normal is a bit much to hope for.
Molly: Well, baby - how was your date?
Fi: Not that I have any others to compare with, but I'd have to say unusual.
Ryan: Nature creates all kinds of clones. Like identical twins - that's one type. The fact that the genesis takes place in a lab, it's irrelevant as far as feelings go.
Fi: So feelings are irrelevant. I'll have to remember that.
Jack: It's just a day at the beach, right? No demons or spacebugs?
Fi: Just the occasional seaweed.
Jack: Then I'm in.
Fi: That's unusually decent of you, Jack.
Molly: You don't think this showcase is a bad idea?
Kane: Why should I?
Molly: Nine record executives coming? Isn't that … nine too many?
Fi: When I was 6, I was in the waaay off-broadway musical Les Vegetables.
A slightly humourous pasquinade of the actual play, Les Miserables, based on the novel by Victor Hugo. Fi was a tomato in her production.
