Travis and Martha had an extrememly difficult salsa routine with a lot of fancy hand work but pulled it off. They were very impressive considering it was a completely new dance to them.
Dmitri has been consistently strong, despite have changed partners three times in three weeks. His dance with Ashlee was cute and entertaining but a bit too erratic for a contemporary piece, I thought. His partnership with Ashlee seems to be a lot stronger than his previous partners though. I think they provide a good balance for each others' characters.
Musa and Natalie's amazing chemistry shined through beautifully in their disco.
Benji and Donyelle are unstoppable each and every week-- and still surprise the audience every time.
Ivan and Allison were also strong contenders in a dance they have never done before.
Jaymz and Jessica received negative reviews-- and I have to say they were pretty deserving of it. Nigel and Dan stated that the moves were clean and beautiful but it just didn't have the hip-hop feel. Jaymz stated that he felt he did well considering he and Jessica are jazz and ballet dancers and that he challenged anyone to learn jazz or ballet routines in a day and do as good a job as he felt they did in a hiphop routine- a completely new dance for them. This reaction came off awfully defensive and immature. A lot of the other couples were facing completely new dances just like them. There is no excuse for the fact that other couples are clearly stepping up and these two are not. I think this comment will put him in danger with audience popularity and in danger in the field of dance a la season 1 when one of the dancers spoke behind the judges back and they reminded him that word spreads quickly in the field of dance.
That being said, the competition is definitely heating up. It's going to be interesting to see which way the audience votes.moreless
