Son go ku is a 1959 motion picture adaptation of the famous Chinese
novel entitled Journey to the West. In the movie, the skillful trickster
Monkey (Norihei Miki) leads a group of faithful Buddhists who wish to
make it safely to their goal. However, countless demons and enemies
stand in their way of collecting a series of sacred sutras. Kajiro
Yamamoto directed this classic film by Toho. Yamamoto was actually the
mentor of director Akira Kurosawa.
