Episode Summary

EDIT
Split-up into teams, Sonic, Sally, Antoine, Bunnie and Rotor are forced to flee Robotropolis in mid-plot. Their rendezvous is a train station, where Sonic's roboticized Uncle Chuck boards a departing train. The Freedom Fighters follow the train to the crystal mine to try to rescue him. Unsurprisingly, he is not the hedgehog he used to be, but Sonic temporarily fixes that with a power ring. Returning to Knothole with the freed Uncle Chuck will have to wait, however. The robots are excavating a powerful crystal, which will further Dr. Robotnik's goals and wreak havoc across Mobius. Can the Freedom Fighters stop this plot? And can Uncle Chuck truly be saved?moreless

  • This is a memorable episode for many fans for understandable reasons, but its quality isn't as good as you'd expect.

    7.8
Ultra Sonic is a memorable episode as it had a few pivotal moments. We have the first in show appearance of Uncle Chuck and understand the problem of robotication. Sonic also comes close to crying in the end when he has to leave Chuck behind. The crying apparantly pissed Sega off, who forbade DIC to show such emotion for Sonic again. Kinda hypocritical, when you think of all the crying in eps. 77/78 of Sonic X.

Despite the moments, this episode wasn't of the best quality. Uncle Chuck acts a bit like a monster/zombie before they give him his free will. Sonic takes on a few SWATbots but the fighting is stop-start. And the crystal's removal destroying the ecosystem was a bit unexplained.

This episode is worth seeing, but mainly for its moments.moreless
