An extremely revealing episode, spiced with some of the most dramatic scenes ever, "The Lost Planet" is another unique Sonic X episode. There is so much drama here that we could think we're watching a soapbox opera. First: Knuckles, Tails & Chris chattings about Cosmo's ultimate fate. It's supremely shocking. Knuckles has never been shown as clever as here and Tails' stubborn lovings for Cosmo add some strong mood.

Second: the scenes where Cream & Cheese meet Cosmo in her bed. I'm not that kind of sentimental guy who loves watching soap operas, but these were real good scenes.

Other than drama, the episode is filled with revealing flashback action about the Metarex and Cosmo's clan. In fact, do we learn, these two groups were one and the same at one moment. The flashback scenes are extremely revealing and provide some good action, but the "digivolved" creatures were too much "anime" for me. However, there are also some good dramatic scenes there too, especially with the planet's leaders. Since the beginning of the season, there haven't been so much revealed truth during a single episode.

Dr. Eggman is also back, but almost as a supporting character. In fact, Eggman's role is smaller than ever. But we must admit that the Metarex are far more interesting villains than Eggman could be.

At the end of the episode, Dark Oak shows that he found all the seven Chaos emeralds and that must mean trouble for the following. But Sonic and his gang (now with Rouge, a splendid addition) look ready and they'll never let Cosmo lead them to doom. The final Typhoon scenes are scenes of great friendship, confidence, teamwork and also love...

  • What a good episode this was. It may not have been necesarily as good as its predecessor, nevertheless, it was still a good episode altogether.

We learned in the previous episode that Cosmo's identity has been revealed as "White Seed" and she has been used to betray Sonic and his friends all along be Dark Oak and the rest of the Metarex.

In this episode, Cosmo is depressed throughout the episode's entirety, feeling herself to be quite worthless and a bad friend, knowing that she has been betraying Sonic and his friends for quite some time now.

Chris and Sonic have now recovered from their encounter with Shadow from the previous episode and Chris makes it his goal to uncover more about the Metarex's past as well as Cosmo's.

Half of the episode focuses on the past when Cosmo's ancestors were fighting in a war which was a pivotal event in Metarex history, as this was the day that Lucas decided to betray his fellowmen in a goal of total universal conquest along with 4 of his surviving friends.

Tails also tries to comfort Cosmo throughout the episode as it is tearing him apart the fact that Cosmo is in such a depressed state. His consoling words help Cosmo to realize that although the Metarex have been using her, she can help get back at them by helping Sonic and his friends in their new goal to defeat the Metarex.

The episode ends, however, with shocking news. Bokkun (mysteriously) locates Sonic and his friends in the world they were transported to and he reveals to Shadow and Chris, just as Shadow is leaving, that Eggman has been taken captive! The scene then switches over to the Metarex's base where we see a depressed Eggman along with his two lackeys in a jail cell whilst Dark Oak reveals that now that all 7 Chaos Emeralds have been collected, he can finally go through with his plan of conquest.

What a great episode! It really sets the stage for the next episodes whereby Sonic and his friends will engage in a final showdown to stop the Metarex.

  • TRIVIA (1)

    • At the end of the episode, Dark Oak has all seven Emeralds. How is that possible if Sonic and them still have the one from the Memoriliuns?

(Reply: Well, because in the last episode, the Meterex took it.)

  • QUOTES (6)

    • Cosmo: How can ou still say I'm your friend?
Tails: Because the Metarex can use your eyes and ears all they want, but they can never take your heart.

    • Herthia: You... You have betrayed your own people! You have destroyed everything that was more important than any enemy!
Lucas: You were the one that wanted to leave here. I haven't betrayed anyone, you have!

    • Cream: (to Cosmo) Cosmo you must be awfully hungry by now, why don't you let me make you something to eat okay? My mother taught me how to make the most delicious sugar cookies.
      (4Kids Version)

    • Knuckles: Can we stop it?
Chris: I'm not sure, if we do she won't be the same, the signal is controlling her sight and hearing, if we remove it she may not be able to hear or see again.
Knuckles: (Growls) Then that's a chance we have to take!
Tails: How can you say that, I'm not letting anyone hurt Cosmo!
Knuckles: We don't want to hurt her, we just want to set her free, and if she has to lose her eyes and ears then so be it!
Tails: There has to be another way!

    • Amy: (Turns on the lights( You're not leaving without us, are you?
Cream: If you're gonna fight Dark Oak, we're gonna fight with you!
      Cheese: Chao, chao!
Knuckles: Me too! Those Meta-dopes might need a knuckles sandwich!
Rouge: "Knuckle Sandwich"? Gee, that was real clever...
      Knuckles: Who asked you?!

    • Shadow: Your friend, Cosmo, is a Metarex spy and that's all there is to it!
