  • Welcome to The Miles Prower Show!

    7.0
Cosmo and Tails star in this episode which leads our heroes underground and features great and fair excitement.

The Metarex present in this episode are among the most interesting shown so far. They're ambitious, ferocious, intelligent and, at one point, funny. In this episode, Cosmo's history is shown in detail and we know more about her origins. In the present time, Cosmo gets trapped with Tails in the cave and she feels terribly guilty. This leads to some introspective scenes from Cosmo's part and also sad speeches. At first, we really fall for Cosmo's pains, but she's so annoying that, at the end, we don't really care anymore.

The real winner in this episode is Tails. He delivers the best single performace from any character so far this season. First depicted as a nerdish inventor and builder and as a fighter air captain, Tails is now able to fight Metarex on his own and he wonderfully shows himself as a moral counsellor to his depressing friend Cosmo.

And who hasn't noticed that Cosmo-Tails relationship isn't only friendly? It's obvious enough that a love story bears between both of them. Tails' proofs are evident, as he blushes twice during the episode. The first time is when Cosmo puts a bandage around his head and the second time is when Cosmo tells him: "Tails, you're a genius". According to me, it's the most important single quote of the season. Cosmo's signs are less obvious but they're present. The first one is when Tails asks her if she'd be happy to help Tails decrypting the Metarex code. Cosmo answers with great enthousiasm and joy. The second one (and the most obvious) is when Tails blinks at her and she then shows a timid smile.

It's also interesting that Tails' new attitude is found back by his old one. His old attitude comes back in Cosmo's form. She's shy, easily takes blame and she's not sure of her capacities. That's exactly Tails' old personnality. Maybe it's the reason Tails like Cosmo so much: because she looks like him.

Other than Tails and Cosmo, no other characters are really explored. The only thing I have to say is that Knuckles is still aimed by the scenarists as the show's scapegoat. I think it's not the fate he truly deserves.

Overall, there's a nice entertaining adventure, an interesting and then annoying performance by Cosmo and an over-the-top, sublimely perfect acting from Tails. Now let's hope that their relationship will grow up, it would be even more interesting for the season's remaining.moreless
  • First episode in which we can notice the TailsCosmo relationship.

This was an excellent episode for many reasons: first, because this is the first time in the season in which we can see Tails actually fighting the Metarex. No hiding behind the Sonic Power Cannon in this episode. Second, we get to learn more about Cosmo's past. And also because we can see that Tails can be an excellent moral adviser. Especially with Cosmo since she is tormented with her past and she feels completely useless. And of course the Tails and Cosmo relationship can be noticed, both of the characters having signals. Tails has more obvious sings, and Cosmo's are less obvious, but still present.moreless
