Show Summary

Although it only lasted for six episodes, Sons of Thunder, a spinoff of Walker,Texas Ranger, generated quite a following. The series followed the adventures of two young private detectives in the city of Dallas. The characters of Trent and Carlos were originally introduced in a special two hour episode of Walker,Texas Ranger in 1997.In that episode martial arts instructor Trent Malloy leaves the army and returns home to help his mother raise his younger siblings. He soon teams up with a childhood friend, Dallas police officer Carlos Sandoval to catch a killer. The characters were seen in numerous episodes of Walker during the next two seasons as Trent opens Thunder Karate and a protection agency. And Carlos becomes a detective on the force. Finally in 1999 they were given their own series. In the pilot Carlos leaves DPD and joins Trent as they open a detective agency. The two rent space above a club owned by ex-prize fighter Butch McMann.Butch, a kind hearted soul who was once a P.I himself,is always ready to help out. The cast was rounded out with the addition of feisty office manager Kim Sutter.Sons of Thunder, like Walker was filmed entirely on location in Dallas,Texas and produced by Walker star Chuck Norris and his brother Aaron.Chuck along with costars Sheree J. Wilson and Clarence Gilyard Jr. made occasional guest appearances on the series.
Lyrics for Sons of Thunder Well, you'll find the Sons of Thunder; underneath the Texas skies. And the spirit that was Thunder, is shining in their eyes. I hear Thunder! Calling as it rolls. They're quick as Texas lightning. They've got Thunder in their souls, Thunder in their souls. I hear Thunder!

  • Too short spin-off

    9.8
Though the main theme - helping people, prevent youngs from drugs and keeping criminals in prisons - is not so original, see all those series like Walker, Texas Ranger, CSI's, Hunter, The Shield etc., I think it still has it's own spark and a bit of originality.

This spin-off series contains more than psychopatic murders. I think the violence against women, which was one of the most used topic, shows us that crime doesn't mean only killing people for such no reason. It keep us to remember that violence is everywhere in our neighborhood and it's not always so obvious.

I love the characters of Trent and Carlos and it's a pity there won't be any new 'Sons of Thunder' episodes.moreless
  • Two kick butt heroes--no waiting!

    9.7
I loved these two characters from the start of when they were on Walker, Texas Ranger. Trent & Carlos are a set of private investigators that fight to make the world safer. Trent is a former army ranger & will not use guns of any kind, due to a horrific accident when he was a child. He relies on this martial arts techniques and his wits to get his man. Carlos is a former Houston cop, and Trent's best friend. Together they work to create a safer Houston. This show held really strong elements of Walker, Texas Ranger, but had two very likable lead characters. Where it fell a bit short, was in the supporting characters, which weren't as strong as C.D. and Alex in the Walker series. Still, if they ever had a reunion, or brought it back, I would watch in a heartbeat.moreless
