  • The episode felt like a one-woman play centered on LaVonda's endless phone calls. While I like LaVonda fine enough, nothing really happened in this episode. The ep just wasn't as funny as some of the other ones that preceded it.moreless

For the first ep back from the mult-week break, this episode wasn't the strongest. First, the ep felt like a one-woman play. The entire episode basically just centered around LaVonda. They really didn't need to show any of the other characters on the line of LaVonda's phone calls because you could have gotten the gist of the conversation from her side alone. Secondly, the ep just wasn't that funny. A lot of the lines from other eps that were used before in the series were recycled here again. Also, my favorite characters were pretty much relegated to the background while LaVonda was front and center. Brother Boy, who usually makes me laugh, just repeated stuff from other eps. Sissy didn't even have any funny lines. Noleta just cried.

While not every ep can hit it out of the park, this ep kind of missed the mark. Hopefully, future eps will be better.moreless

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

FILTER BY TYPE

  • TRIVIA (1)

    • LaVonda originally called Peggy to tell her that Brother Boy was out of his coma. But when she finally did get ahold of her, she never mentioned it at all.

  • QUOTES (7)

    • LaVonda: So, Brother Boy is still in a f***ing coma, Latrelle has turned into a f***ing drug addict, Sissy shot the Hinkles' f***ing billy goat and Mama has moved Bitsy Mae Harling, a known convict, into her f***ing house. You are all caught up, Roger.
Roger: Sounds like one crazy f***ing week.

    • Brother Boy: Hey, LaVonda, I didn't die.
LaVonda: Well, I am glad. Are you doing okay otherwise?
Brother Boy: I'm in a looney bin and I just tried to kill myself. Think about it, LaVonda.

    • Sissy: Oh, my stars. Latrelle's not here and the bed's still made up. I just assumed all morning that she was knocked out on them pills.
LaVonda: Well, maybe she went back home to San Angelo... if we're lucky. Or stayed over at Mama's.
Sissy: With Bitsy Mae Harling living there? Oh, no. Latrelle is not going to stay in the same house with a known convict. Huh-uh. No, siree. No, ma'am. No, no, no, no. Not with that rock on her finger that Wilson gave her for their twentieth anniversary.
LaVonda: Good point. I guess we should be slightly worried, huh?

    • LaVonda: Let me get this straight. You're saying that Mama is having an affair with G.W. Nethercott?
      Latrelle: I am speaking English, aren't I?
LaVonda: Yes, but lately with your pill-popping, you slur when you do.

    • Noleta: (crying on the phone to LaVonda) He just drove up and he's not decapitated. So that means he's cheatin' on me! I don't know what's worse: a headless husband or a legless, cheatin' one!

    • Latrelle: And you don't seem to be concerned that our one and only mama is shacking up with a piece of white trash with two wooden legs.
LaVonda: Technically, they're not wooden. They're fiberglass.

    • LaVonda: Hello?
Juanita: I need to speak to the supervisor.
      LaVonda: I am the supervisor.
Juanita: Well, your goddamn radio contest is rigged. And one of your employees called me a crazy drunk. And I am not crazy!
      LaVonda: Yet.
