Former police detective Adrian Monk (Tony Shalhoub), whose photographic memory and amazing ability to piece together tiny clues made him a local legend, has suffered from intensified obsessive-compulsive disorder and a variety of phobias since the unsolved murder of his wife, Trudy, in 1997. Now on psychiatric leave from the San Francisco Police Department and working as a freelance detective/consultant on difficult cases, Monk hopes to convince his former boss, Captain Leland Stottlemeyer (Ted Levine), to allow him to return to the force. Stottlemeyer, who wavered between admiration for Monk and annoyance at his eccentricities during the first season, becomes more of a friend to Monk as the series develops, frequently calling him in to help, as much for Monk's benefit as for his own. However, he knows Monk's limitations as well as his strengths and still harbor doubts about the wisdom of allowing Monk to carry a gun or subdue a perpetrator. Stottlemeyer's second-in-command, Lieutenant Randall Disher (Jason Gray-Stanford), also develops both admiration and compassion for the man he once labeled "the defective detective." Despite flaws and inadequacies all around, the three become an increasingly effective team, with additional help from Monk's personal assistant. From the double-episode pilot through the first half of season three, Monk was aided by his nurse, Sharona Fleming (Bitty Schram). But in the tenth episode of the third season, Sharona was replaced by a new assistant, Natalie Teeger (Traylor Howard). Like Sharona, a divorcee with a son named Benjy, Natalie is a single parent, a widow with a daughter named Julie (Emmy Clarke). Unlike Sharona, Natalie is not a nurse but a former bartender with a fresh perspective on "Mr. Monk," as she still addresses her new boss.moreless

American Dad! from Family Guy creator, Seth MacFarlane, is the animated story of Stan Smith, who works for the CIA and is constantly on the alert for terrorist activity. Stan will go to extremes to protect his beloved America from harm – as evidenced by the terror-alert color code on his fridge, and his frequent knee-jerk reaction of shooting holes in the toaster whenever the toast pops up.

    Production Company: 20th Century FOX.

    Also see Family Guy.

    Character Guide:

Stan Smith - Stan works for the CIA, and is constantly on the look-out for terrorists. He loves his family and will do anything to protect them, and his country.

Francine Smith - Stan's wife, she has had a past life of drugs, but she has carefully hidden her party-girl personality for the sake of the conservative man she loves. She met Stan after college.

Hayley Smith - The teenage daughter of the family, currently attending community college. Despite her father's best efforts she has turned out to be a left-wing liberal. Stan loves his daughter, but that doesn't necessarily mean he trusts her.

Steve Smith - The dorky son, he tries to act cool, but fails. Steve is on the verge of puberty - but he just can't quite make it. His low social status sometimes leads him to taking drastic action - but no matter what he does, he's just a dork.

Roger - A sarcastic alien rescued by Stan from Area 51. He resents not being allowed to leave the house, so has resorted to drinking wine and smoking cigarettes.

Klaus - A German-talking goldfish, he was a CIA experiment that went horribly wrong when they tried transplanting a German man's brain into a goldfish. Klaus lusts after Francine, and will take any opportunity that comes his way.

    Theme Song Lyrics:

Stan: Good morning, USA! I got a feeling that it's gonna be a wonderful day! The sun in the sky has a smile on his face! And he's shinin' a salute to the American race! Oh boy, it's swell to saaay! Good morning, USA! (Good morning, USA!)

    Nickelodeon
SpongeBob SquarePants is one of Nickelodeon's highest-rated cartoons for children and a staple of American television. It was created by marine biologist Stephen Hillenburg during his tenure as a teacher at the Ocean Institute in California. The show follows the adventures of an eternally optimistic sea sponge named SpongeBob who works at a fast food restaurant, attends a boating school, and lives in an underwater pineapple. The program stars a colorful cast of ten main characters and takes place in the sub-surface town of Bikini Bottom. Characters SpongeBob SquarePants - The main character of the series and a selfless creature whose sunny attitude is his trademark. He works as a fry cook at the Krusty Krab, Bikini Bottom's premier daytime eatery. He is known throughout town for the delicious Krabby Patty burgers he makes. SpongeBob is perpetually enrolled in boating school, the underwater equivalent of a driver's education course. He lives in a submerged pineapple home with his pet snail Gary. Mr. Krabs - SpongeBob's boss at the Krusty Krab. He lives in an anchor with his teenage daughter, Pearl the whale. While Mr. Krabs often acts as a fatherly figure to SpongeBob, he is very cheap and frequently lets his obsession with money cloud his judgment. He loves sailing, talks like a pirate, and is in a romantic relationship with SpongeBob's teacher Mrs. Puff. Squidward Tentacles - A snobbish octopus who is SpongeBob's next-door neighbor and coworker at the Krusty Krab. He is pessimistic and despises SpongeBob for his enthusiastic attitude. Squidward's favorite hobby is playing his clarinet, but he is not very skilled at it. He also fancies himself a talented artist and keeps countless self portraits around his house. Patrick Star - Patrick is a pink starfish who is SpongeBob's best friend. He is dimwitted and clueless when it comes to almost anything; after all, he lives under a rock. He is always quick to give SpongeBob unintentionally bad advice that lands them both in trouble. Despite his obliviousness to the world around him, Patrick is enduringly loyal and generally good-natured. Sheldon J. Plankton - The arch-rival of Mr. Krabs and the owner of a failing rival restaurant called the Chum Bucket. With the help of his sentient computer Karen, Plankton is always trying to steal the Krusty Krab's secret recipe for Krabby Patties. SpongeBob has a knack for unintentionally thwarting Plankton's efforts without even trying. Karen Plankton - Plankton's sidekick and wife who supplies him with his evil schemes. She is a computer system that he builds into most of his diabolical inventions. Most of the time, Karen manifests on a screen in the Chum Bucket laboratory or in a mobile robot body. She usually acts as Plankton's voice of reason. Sandy Cheeks - A thrill-seeking cowgirl squirrel from the state of Texas who wears a diving suit and lives in a dome full of air. She has a passion for extreme sports and enjoys practicing karate with SpongeBob. When she is not searching for adventure, Sandy can be found working as a scientist and inventor. Mrs. Puff - SpongeBob's teacher at the town boating school and the girlfriend of Mr. Krabs. She tries her best to be patient with SpongeBob, as he is her most enthusiastic student, but finds his reckless boat-driving exhausting. SpongeBob has failed her class more times than she can count, but he only seems to grow more passionate about driving with each failure. Pearl Krabs - A teenage whale who is Mr. Krabs' beloved daughter. She will inherit the Krusty Krab when she grows up, but she doesn't know or care much about fast food at all. Pearl is clever for her age, especially when it comes to math or getting money from her father, but she is still immature. Gary the Snail - SpongeBob's pet sea snail who communicates through cat-like meows and other unintelligible noises. Surprisingly, he is the most civilized member of the cast and outsmarts his owner on a regular basis. He leaves a trail of sticky slime wherever he goes.moreless

CSI: Crime Scene Investigation took television by storm in 2000 with its innovative and cutting-edge updating of a standard series concept – in this case, the cop show. Suddenly, instead of simply whodunit, solving crimes was a matter of howdunit, and with what size shoe, and whether anyone left behind traces of evidence that the blue ALS light could pick up. Now that gritty approach to crime known as forensic science makes its way from Las Vegas to the streets of Florida in CSI: Miami. A whole new team of crime scene investigators is on hand to probe the seamy underside of what some refer to as Cuba North and others call Georgia South. Consider it a tropical blend of people, culture, nightlife and, of course, the occasional killing or two. Just as you do in Vegas, come for the crime, stick around for the clues. And there's always a clue. The Team Horatio Caine is the lead criminologist, sort of the Grissom of the spin-off. But he's got a dangerous edge and a "blind allegiance to justice." Tim Speedle was a young, well-educated criminalist who did his job in honor of his high school friend, who died two years after he was paralyzed in a snowmobile accident. He died on duty when he was shot in a jewelry store while investigating a murder. Eric Delko is a funny and lovable character, now working as a CSI, specializing in underwater recovery. Alexx Woods is a young coroner. Alexx has the education that has earned her the nickname "knowologist," and she often challenges the other CSIs. She is known to talk to the victims. Calleigh Duquesne is the team's ballistics expert, sometimes known as the "bullet girl." Ryan Wolfe is the newest member of the team. He is young and often thinks outside the box to help solve cases.moreless

Unbeknownst to Kagome, she is the reincarnation of priestess Kikyo and possesses the "Jewel of Four Souls" (the Shikon jewel). One ill-fated day, Kagome locates an ancient well near her home and is abruptly transported through the well and into a feudal Japan, inhabited by demons. There, she encounters Inuyasha, son of a powerful demon father and a human mother, who is pinned to a tree by an enchanted arrow. Kagome frees Inuyasha from the tree before she learns that all of the demons, including Inuyasha, are after the Shikon jewel in her possession. To prevent the jewel from being stolen, Kagome accidentally shoots it with the enchanted arrow, shattering it into thousands of pieces. The evil Naraku also seeks the jewel for his own reasons. New allies, Kagome and Inuyasha, join forces with Shippo, a small fox-demon, Miroku, a monk, and Sango, the sole surviving demon-hunter, in order to combat Naraku and recover the fragments of the "Jewel of Four Souls". Inuyasha - Half-human, half-demon, Inuyasha desires the Shikon jewel for his own questionable purposes. Too bad Kagome can control him with magic! Kagome - Kagome is a modern-day 15-year-old girl who lives with her family by the old Higure shrine. She is also the unknowing possessor of a magical jewel. Shippo - Shippo is a young fox-demon with shape-shifting abilities. He likes Inuyasha and is fiercely loyal to Kagome. Sango - Sango the demon hunter lost her whole village to Naraku's forces. Her preferred weapon is a giant boomerang. Sesshomaru - Sesshomaru is Inuyasha's older, pure-demon brother. He seeks the magic sword that his father gave to Inuyasha. Miroku - A Buddhist monk who, because of a curse from Naraku, has a Wind Tunnel (it's like a black hole) in his right hand. He is also quite the pervert. Naraku - Naraku is the villain of the series. His name translates as the word, "hell". He was born through the thief Onigumo's desire for Kikyo when he called dozens of demons in to devour himself. He has the ablilty to change his form into anything he wants, which he did to trick Inuyasha and Kikyo into hating each other. He has used Inuyasha's brother Sesshomaru to try and get rid of Inuyasha, but to no avail. He also has an 'army' of bug-type creatures, called Saimyosho. Naraku is also a half-demon like Inuyasha, but born in a different way. Naraku can choose the time of month to return to his 'original' form. He uses this time to re-arrange his body into a stronger and more powerful form. Naraku also gains the ablilty to make offspring, later. Koga - Koga is the son of a leader of the wolf demon tribe. He has 2 Shikon jewel shards in his legs (one in each) which gives him super speed. He first comes into the story when he attacks the village where Rin lived. He also says that he is in love with Kagome, which makes Inuyasha quite annoyed. Koga wants Naraku dead because he created Kagura who killed many of his friends from his tribe.moreless

The Emmy Award-winning comedy series ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT revolves around MICHAEL BLUTH (Jason Bateman), the "normal" one in a family of crazies, who is forced to stay in Orange County and run the family real estate business after his father, GEORGE BLUTH SR. (Jeffrey Tambor), is sent to prison for shifty accounting practices. While George Sr. spent the last year in the slammer discovering his newfound Judaism and recording inspirational tapes, Michael spent it picking up the pieces and trying to teach his offbeat family how to live without an endless expense account. All the while, Michael has also been trying to do right by his 14-year-old son, GEORGE MICHAEL (Michael Cera), an earnest kid who works diligently at the family's frozen banana stand. The Bluths are led by manipulative matriarch LUCILLE BLUTH (Jessica Walter), a socialite who is as icy as her martinis. Then there's the oldest son, GOB (Will Arnett), a womanizer and struggling magician (sorry, "illusionist") whose biggest trick will be to make a real job appear. The youngest brother is BUSTER (Tony Hale), a neurotic professional grad student and glorified mama's boy (he spent 11 months in the womb). The Bluth siblings are rounded out by cause-obsessed sister LINDSAY (Portia de Rossi), who is married to the hapless TOBIAS (David Cross), a doctor-turned-actor who might get more work if he wasn't a self-proclaimed "never-nude." Lindsay and Tobias are the ultra-permissive parents of MAEBY (Alia Shawkat), a 14-year-old who loves finding unique ways to rebel against their overindulgence. The series won 6 Emmy Awards for Outstanding Single-Camera Picture Editing for a Comedy Series - Pilot, Outstanding Casting for a Comedy Series, Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series - Pilot, Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series - Pilot, Outstanding Comedy Series and Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series - Righteous Brothers.
