  • The prologue is completed and this episode starts the main story. Quite well in my opinion.

    9.5
Due to the fact that they haven't collected a single soul, Maka and Soul along with BlackStar and Tsubaki have to take remedy classes. It turns out that one of the teachers of the academy, Sid, was turned into a zombie and they have to find him and discover who did that.

It's quite pleasant to see the main characters interacting. The dialogs are not the best but are quite funny and entertaining. How can you not love Maka and Soul talking in the class. It was something like this (I already finished watching the show so it's not like I remember every single word): "Shut up, don't you see I'm reading." "Why are you so mad? It's just a stupid book." "Maka CHOP" And then she asks what he wanted to say and he tells her about Sid. Poor Soul.

On with the review, their battle with Sid was also really nice, the animation quality keeps its consistent awesomeness and the "Witch Hunter" lived up to my expectations. Oh, and the fact that it missed also started a dialog that made me laugh a little. Though it's just not cool stopping in the middle of a battle to discuss who's fault it was that an attack missed. But I pretty much enjoyed everything else in this episode. The action scenes of this anime are just so good imo...moreless
  • A step up from the previous three.

    7.5
Now that the prologue is finally done, we finally get the main storyline moving on wheels. It seems that Soul's and Maka's teacher, Sid, was turned into a zombie, and their task is to capture him. Like the previous three episodes, the conversations are just so unrealistic and fabricated that you have to wonder if the mangaka ever had any friends. He also seems to have a huge fetish for boobs. Onto this episode though, the fighting with Sid was pretty entertaining due to a pretty good budget backed up by pretty aesthetic value, but the dumb and nonsensical talking that is going on during the battle really makes Soul Eater as if it doesn't take itself seriously. There is no balance at all to the humour and action.moreless

    • Soul: (still half asleep) I hope it's a cool morning that's how cool days always start out. And a cool guy like me deserves the coolest morning possible.
Blair: (sitting on top of Soul) Morning Soul. It's time for you to get up sleepy boy.
      Soul: (startled by Blair) B-B-Blair?!
      Blair: (smirks seductively)

    • (Maka and Soul are heading to Shinigami-sama)
Black Star: (Stealthily hiding) Showing their backs to me, eh? Let's go, Tsubaki.
      Tsubaki: OK.
Black Star: (Yelling) Laws of Assassins, number 1! Conceal yourself in darkness, quiet your breath, seek a path to your target!
Maka: (Notices) Ah, it's Black Star.
Soul Eater: What are you doing yelling up there?

    • (They are getting annoyed from waiting) Soul Eater: Where the hell are you, you zombie bastard?! Black Star: Hey, Soul, why don't we piss on Sid's grave? Soul Eater: Yeah! And while we're at it, why don't we take a dump on it, too!!
