      • Episode 25 and The Straight Hook -

This episode is devoted to a series of flashbacks featuring child-Taikoubou ("Bou") and his friends. These flashbacks are meant to remind Taikoubou of his true purpose in the Immortal World and how he came upon the ideal of the "straight hook".

After becoming a Disciple and living on Mount Kunlun for a period of time, Taikoubou loses perspective on the Human World and his former life in it. He regains empathy for humans through his friendship with Fugen Shinjin (who was once a fellow Disciple to Taikoubou). The flashbacks show the pair traveling down to the Human World and Fugen introducing Taikoubou to the idea of the "straight hook" [that an Immortal should be like a straight hook in the Human World... living amidst humans, in touch, but not infringing upon their lives].

Following this philosophy, Taikoubou's ideal role is that of an emissary of the Human World in the Immortal World... working to keep humans autonomous of Immortal meddling (a philosophy akin to that of Bunchu). However, entrenched in the political and personal complexities of Project Soul Hunt, Taikoubou had forgotten this ideal and become just another puppet in Genshitenson's scheming.

      • The Meaning of "Taikoubou" -

Young Bou's name is augmented by Genshitenson when he is recruited by the Immortal World. Bou (or "hope") becomes Taikoubou (or "The People's Great Hope") when he joins Mount Kunlun. Taikoubou is a name more fitting for a great leader (perhaps wishful thinking on Genshitenson's part).
