    • Don Cornelius (talking to Cheryl Song and Randy Thomas prior to their dance routine):
"OK, we'd like for you to meet Cheryl Song and Randy Thomas. And they have a routine for us. And as we've said many times the show is famous for routines, both finished and unfinished. But unfinished routines are outlawed. (Cheryl laughs). An unfinished routine is one where you haven't worked quite hard enough on it and you make mistakes. And if you make a mistake I'll be standing right there and I'm gonna come up here and get you. And drag you off of the stage. OK? Are we not professionals? We're not acrobats, right? But our routines must be perfect. They must be perfect."
