don didnt want rap on his show and he didnt like it/ or get it..nothing to those two extreemes is more evident in this episode when don interviewed kurtis blow on stage..man what a complete disrespect but at the same time alot of older people flet like rap was a fad they felt differently about the culture and thought that it had no balance or artform people just didnt get it i am 41 years old now if i would be the same age of this televissed show i would have felt the same way but don HAD to put rap on here he was always a innovater so this was a great stepping stone for soul train theuy already had to battle the disco era, they won that now they had to win/ capitalize on hip hop..welp he won that too but also this led to his departure of the show..not the main thing that did but one of the things because going into the 1990s all the heavyweightsb that use to be on the show in the 70's were gone and no one was doing true rand b musicmoreless
