lilo thomas..or for the first 2 shows don called him lilo did a cool performance on soul train of the song" your loves got a hold on me" from the 1984 album All Of Me i always loved Lilos music he is still on tour today he even has a facebook pagePrior to his recording career he was on the U.S. track and field team. As an athlete he set the world record for the 200 meters at the age of sixteen with the help of his volunteer coach Jeremiah Armour He qualified for the 1984 Olympics, however he was unable to attend after being involved in a car accident in Brazil. Thomas left athletics behind for music, and toured with comedian Eddie Murphy in 1985.He became a successful session vocalist, doing vocals on releases by Evelyn "Champagne" King, Kashif, James Ingram, George Benson, and Melba Moore, among others, while also writing "Mind Up Tonight" for Moore.

A remixed version of "Soul Train's a Comin'" is used as the theme.some of the soul train dancers dancing from the 1970's are still on here as well C heerelle also was on here performing i really didnt mean to turn you on which was later covered by robert palmer who he made into a hit also by this time Lou Ski (the tall dude with the glasses always prancing around on stage/ the one in the new edition videos) was hands down the most famous soul train dancer and recognizablemoreless

    • Music Video: The Fat Boys - "Fat Boys"
Notable Song Played: Cyndi Lauper - "She-Bop"
Soul Train Line: Temper - "No Favors"

Other: Alongside Lillo being a horrible lip-syncer, you also can hear the record popping during "Your Love's Got A Hold On Me."
Don Cornelius did not say his famous line "Love Peace, and Soul" at the end of the episode. Instead, he decided to leave it at "It's going to be a Stone Gas Honey." He does this for many episodes following this episode, however, when he started this remains to be seen.
