      • Interview after O'Bryan performs "Drivin' Force":

Don: "Been off the charts for a little while huh?"

O'Bryan: "Yeah, a long time. About two and a half years."

Don: "(laughs) I thought it was more like three."

O'Bryan: "(laughs) Uh well its close to three, I've been in Barbados, sunning you know. (laughs) actually we're negotiating you know. Getting everything straighten out to where everybody can be confortable..."

Don: "You're negotiating in the studio trying to get some hits (laughs)"

O'Bryan: (laughs) Sort of, that too"

Don: "Looks like you came up with one bro"

O'Bryan: "Maybe so, we'll wait and see"

Don: "Are you gonna do something hot for us next?"

O'Bryan: "Yeah we're gonna do "Tenderoni" next. Uh you know....funk a little bit more."

Don: "(after a long pause) Ok, if thats your specialty"

      • A new idea was sprung upon the Soul Train audience by this episode.
Previously at the top of the show, announcer Sid Mccoy would present the "guest stars" and then a digital box would float showing a 2-3 second "action" clip of said performer. The 2 changes occurring with Sid announcing the performers would still show the "Digital Box", but it would now appear at any given moment during an action shot as opposed to its long standing tradition of giving you a bird's eye/wide camera angled view of the entire studio and SOUL TRAIN logo. The second change would be you could now hear a 3-5 second sample of a song the said artist will perform on that episode once the digital box revealed the performer.
