Episode Summary

The adults are concerned for Cartman's health, so they arrange for him to go to fat camp. Once he's there, he arranges for another kid to stand in for him and sneak food into the camp from the school. At the same time, the kid shows that Cartman has been losing weight, but Kyle gets suspicious, as he knows no one gets skinny as quickly as Cartman seems to have done. Meanwhile, Cartman is found out and banned from the camp. The kid is sent in to replace Kenny in the Krazy Kenny show, as Kenny himself seems to have been arrested for ... indecent behavior with Howard Sternmoreless

Who was the Episode MVP ?

  • superb

What I liked- The Krazy Kenny show, Kenny being arrested, Chef singing about what prostitution is to the kids, Kyle and Stan forcing the kid to pretend to be Kenny, Cartman being kicked out of fat camp, Garrison saying he was only at the intervention because he wanted to see Cartman's face when they told him, amongst other things.

Good episode. Kenny's plot started off good but got kind of boring ,but the main plot was pretty good with many humorous moments, so because of all of this my final grade is going to be a B+ or so, I think is fairmoreless
  • cartman in fatcamp kenny eats things for money

Cartmans mom the teachers from the school and his friends give cartman an intervention and send him to fat camp. While in fatcamp cartman sells junk food his think look a like gives him to the other fat kids making a big profit.Eventually is he kicked out of the fat camp.I liked this story

Kenny eats digusting things for money eventually getting his own tv show. his final stunt is going inside the busdriver uterus for 6 hours the boy sswitch cartmans thin look alike for kenny the lookalike dies inside her solving all the problems.I didnt like this story as much as the fat camp story. But chef did sing a prostitute song so it was ok.

  • I love the song Chef sings about prostitutes

  • Sick and disgusting but fantastic

In this one; Cartman is rightfully sent to a Fat Camp but while there he sells the other kids candy while a look - alike poses as a thinner and much nicer version of him back home. Meanwhile Kenny becomes a minor shock-celebrity after agreeing to perform a series of increasingly disgusting acts for money.

Neither of these plots are substantial enough to be called plots rather there almost sketch show - like and shows some random bits from each perspective but for the most part it is pretty entertaining but runs out of steam in the last little bit. Both Cartman and Kenny are the main source of laughs; Stan and Kyle have progressed from the 2D straight guys of the group but aren't given a lot of funny material in this episode. Watching Kenny do increasingly sick acts gets less funny as the acts get more disgusting but the final twist at the end proves to be worth it all. The funniest bit in the Fat Camp is partly the bubbly counsellors but also how Cartman reacts to it; the jabs at overweight kids come off too harsh. Special mention goes to the Manatee skit at the beginning. The recurring gag of listening to Chef sing is given it's finale in this episode with his soulful and hilarious song about prostitutes. Ms. Crabtree gives her last speaking appearance of the series and i won't mention her central role in this review only that it's a good albeit dark send - off to that minor character. This is an episode where the show's improved animation is a blessing and a curse as Kenny's revolting actions would have been more tolerable with the stop - motion animation that was used in the pilot. Trey Parker as Cartman and Matt Stone as Kenny take the best performances prize even though Stone's voice is muffled by his sleeve to voice Kenny. Aside from that nothing else stands out much although the woman who stepped in to play Ms. Crabtree channels the late Mary Kay Bergman nicely.

Fat Camp is an irregular but often very funny and attention-grabbing episode of South Park; a great addition to the 4th Season.moreless
  • Chef's prostitute song was great!

Eric Cartman going to a fat camp to try and lose weight?! Great! Kenny's part of the episode was great. Him eating so many different things. Chef's prostitute song was great! That was hilarious. Isaac Hayes was a singer in really life. That was a great song. Jesus told Kenny that Kenny is a prostitute. Eric Cartman walked away when he sang the song. Everyone came when he was singing. Clyde, Butters, Tweek, Bebe, and Token. James Taylor even was there! Principal Victoria was there too! Cartman didn't lose one pound of weight. He looks even fatter. Overall, almost perfect. A 9.7.moreless

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

  • TRIVIA (15)

    • Tom Green is Canadian but he isn't shown with beady eyes or a flapping head.

    • Although the boys don't know what a prostitute is in this episode. In "Rainforest Schmainforest" they saw some Costa Rican Prostitutes and seemed to know what they were.

    • This is Ms. Crabtree's final speaking appearence before she's killed off in Cartman's Incredible Gift.

    • Although Ms. Crabtree states that she's a virgin, she was seen having sex with Chef in "Chef Aid".

    • The Antonio Bandares life size inflatable love doll from the episode Korn's Groovy Pirate Ghost Mystery is visible behind Howard Stern in his studio.

    • When Cartman says to another kid that when he was in prison, he would sneak things into prison by hiding it up his ass, this is a reference to the episode 'Cartman's Silly Hate Crime 2000'.

    • In this Episode Cartman says "I'm not fat I'm big boned. Mom tell them how everyone in your family was big as a child then grew into their bodies!" then his mom says "No sweetie those were all lies, you're just fat," Infering that the Cartman family isn't fat, that Cartman is the only fat one in his family. But, in Merry Christmas Charlie Manson, Season 2 Episode 13, Cartman visits his family and they are all fat, disproving this episode.

    • Liane states that Cartman is the only fat child in his family, which we know from "Merry Christmas, Charlie Manson" and "Cartmanland" is not true.

    • The Orange Parka: This episode would make us seem that Kenny's numerous deaths are not by his misfortune, but the misfortune is brought on by his orange parka. This can also be seen in "Cripple Fight" when Timmy gives Jimmy an orange parka (exactly like Kenny's) in hopes that it will cause him to die, which it nearly does. However we have seen Kenny die once without his parka on, this was in the 8th season episode "The Jeffersons."

    • If Kenny was arrested for prostitution in New York, the boys wouldn't be able to pass Cartman's double off as Kenny, as everyone would most likely know about it.

    • Kenny does not die in this episode, only his look-alike does.

    • The thin Cartman still has a double chin, despite being thinner than Kyle.

    • When the boys are talking to Chef about prostitutes, for a brief moment Kyle's mouth is turned vertical.

    • When it shows the ad for kenny going into Ms. Crabtree, it shows a picture of him already inside.

    • Ms. Crabtree said she was a "Tight virgin flower", but Chef did her in "Chef Aid" when he was trying to get money to hire Johnny Cochrane.

  • QUOTES (17)

    • Announcer: Alright Miss Crabtree, your cervix has been dialated, and your womb has been fitted with oxygen. How do you feel?
Miss Crabtree: I feel great! I haven't had this much attention paid to my cooch since I was seventeen!

    • (about the manatee's the class is going to dissect)
Butters: HEY! Ours is still alive!
Mrs. Choksondik: Oh, hold on. (takes brick and pounds on the manatee's skull)

    • Stan: (after the fake Kenny suffocates in Miss Crabtree's uterus) Oh my God! They killed Kenny! Sort of.
Kyle: Yeah! They killed Kenny... 's look-alike. You bastards!

    • Kyle: Dude, I don't know if I'm going to like the new Eric Cartman.
Stan: Did you like the old one?
      Kyle: Good point.

    • Cartman: Mom, tell them. Tell them I'm not fat, I'm just big boned. Tell them all the stories about how everyone in your family was big as a child but then grew into their bodies.
Liane: Oh sweetie, those were all lies. You're just fat.

    • Prostitute song:
Chef: But a prostitute is someone who would love you,
No matter who you are, or what you look like.
      Yes, it's true, children.
That's not why you pay a prostitute,
No, you don't pay her to stay; you pay her to leave afterwards.
That's why I pay's a lot for prostitutes! Ladies and Gentlemen, Mr. James Taylor.
James Taylor: A prostitute is like any other woman,
They all trade something for sex and they do it well.
Chef: And that's why I say—
Chef and James Taylor: Prostitutes! Prostitutes! They-
Chef: Oohhhh (sees Principal Victoria) James Taylor, what the hell are you doing in here?! Singing about prostitutes to the children! Get out of here! (Principal Victoria gives Chef an evil look) These children tricked me!

    • Mr. Mackey: Now Eric, all these people came here and paid to send you to camp because they care about you.
Mr. Garrison: Yeah except for me, I just wanted to see the look on your face when we told you.

    • Phillip: I say Terrance, it appears the body has been moved since the murder.
      Terrance: I don't see anything.
Phillip: Look closer...(Aiming ass at Terrance)
      Phillip: Closer...(Small fart)
      Phillip only: Ahahaha!
(Terrance on ladder farts a huge fart in Phillips face knocking him into the wall)
      Both: Ahahahahaha!

    • (Cartman is selling candy at the fat camp he is attending and is approached by a fellow camper who is crying.)
Cartman: Why are you crying Chad?
Chad: Cause I'm always gonna be fat, I don't want to eat no sweets but I can't control myself when there right in front of me like this (continues crying) all my life I've been fat, I've been to seven camp and I swore to my momma that I'd lose the weight, I want too but I can't help myself. (continues crying).
Cartman: Hey Chad, do you know what you need? You need a friend.
      Chad I do?
Cartman: Yes a chocolate friend. Mr. Candybar doesn't judge you Chad, Mr. Candybar likes you just the way you are. Look how yummy and sweet he is.
(Chad, still crying, takes the offered candy bar.)
Cartman: There you go, that'll just be four dollars.
(Chad, who is still crying, pays Cartman and begins to eat)
      Cartman: There you go.

    • Stan: Chef, what's a prostitute?
Chef: Dag-nabbit children! How come every time you come in here you've got to be asking me questions I shouldn't be answering? "Chef, what's a clitoris? What's a lesbian, Chef? How come they call it a rim job Chef?". For once, can't you kids come in here and say "Hey Chef, nice day isn't it"?
Stan:Hey Chef, nice day isn't it?
Chef: It sure is, thank you.

    • Rick: You have to know that until you drop the weight, you can't leave.
Amy: (cheerily) There is no escape.

    • Cartman: Will somebody put this retard out of his misery?

    • Mrs. Crabtree: I feel great. I haven't had this much attention paid to my cooch since I was sixteen.

    • (after Kenny was smashed inside her uterus)
Mrs. Crabtree: I told you I was a tight virgin flower!

    • Cartman: When I was in prison, we used to sneak stuff in by hiding it up our ass.
Another fat boy: I have some Fudge 'Ems up my ass. You want some?
Cartman: (scoffs) Yeah, I'm not falling for that one again!

    • Butters: You can scoop it up in my R. Kelly thermos.

    • Rick: Hello Cartman, how are you today?
Cartman: Well I'm pissed off Rick, how are you?

  • NOTES (2)

    • Many of the scenes from this episode involving Kenny's disgusting acts are replaced with a black screen that reads "The following scene of Kenny (performing some disgusting act) has been edited for your protection" with smooth jazz music playing in the background when aired in syndication (similar editing is used on the syndicated version of "Red Hot Catholic Love").

    • This is the fourth time Kenny does not die in an episode.

    • Prostitute Song

The Prostitute song is a parody of Jame's Taylor single: "Your Smiling Face"

    • Japanese Whaling:

Miss Choksondik saying that the children need to dissect the endangered Manatees in order to understand them is an allusion to Japanese whaling, which they claim is to better understand the whales, so as to protect them.
