Randy helps Stan win the Pinewood Derby race, by cheating, and using something they were not supposed to to make their car go faster. But they make it go too fast and soon South Park is visited by an alien. What will they do?

OK episode, it did not interest me a whole lot but it did have some humorous parts. It started off OK and got a little worse as it went along, so because of all of this I think my final grade for this episode is a low B. It's not the best ever but it is better than other episodesmoreless
  • Randy lies and Stan tells the true.

    7.5
It has to be the lowest episode ever. The only funny scene was where Randy dressed up like Princess Leia to steal superconducting magnet from a museum. I really don't comprehend this episode at all. I really don't know what to say about this one all I can say it was really appalling and dry. Let's hope episode 1307 will be more absorbed then Pinewood Derby.

PS: I missed Kyle and Cartman! Well, I spotted Cartman on one scene with the rest of the boys wearing the same uniform. Dammit, where was Kyle! I know he couldn't join the camp because of his religion, but still.

  • Lie begets lie begets lie...

    7.0
Randy lies about a pinewood derby race and that lie eventually leads to an interstellar incident! If there's one thing you've got to love about South Park, it's the show's ability to take something trivial and silly and turn it into something gigantic... and silly.

The problem is that South Park revels in its own immaturity at time and takes the silliness too far. Randy's immature actions and the repetitive jokes made this episode somewhat of a snoozer and the twist at the end stretched the already stretched threshold of believability that South Park enjoys.

Not their finest hour... or half-hour.moreless

It's Pinewood Derby time in South Park, and Stan and Randy are working furiously to build the best car possible. While working on the Derby car, Randy has acquired a very special component to help Stan secure a first place victory. I just hated this episode from the start it was absolutely just not at all good. There are no really good jokes at all, and it was way to far fetched of an episode to mean anything or to have anything significant. This episode really just pissed me off a lot. Save yourself the time, and skip watching this episode. D.moreless
  • Pinewood Derby Leads to First Contact

    9.0
I enjoyed this episode. No message just goofy fun. Some people need a cartman to lead them by the hand into Laughville but I thought Randy Marsh did a great job especially when he was coming up with lies to tell the Space Police.

Randy wants to win the Pinewood Derby race so bad or rather he wants Stan to win though really he wants to win so he illegally modifies Stan's Pinewood derby car with material from the Halycon Collider which causes the car to go into warp drive.

Aliens discover the car and make contact with Earth but not in the manner expected.

My favorite line was when he responded to the Space Police about Mexico's sudden increase in building projects that "We thought Mexico needed the hospitals and... uh...water parks." And how they handle Finland...

    Funny episode all around!moreless

FILTER BY TYPE

  • TRIVIA (3)

    • Kyle doesn't appear in this episode - most probably because he's in Jewscouts and not a member of the Boy Scouts.

    • In the season 5 episode "Cripple Fight", the boys were in Boy Scouts. Although it is clear that they are 9 years old, and you have to be 11 years old to join.

Now they shift backwards to Cub Scouts, which clearly comes before Boy Scouts. This is an obvious plot hole.

    • Stan and Cartman are the only one of the main four boys to appear in this episode - Kyle do not appear. Butters appears briefly with Cartman, Kenny appeared with his father, but they have no dialogue.

    • Star Wars:
Randy dresses up as Princess Leia from Star Wars when he steals the superconducting magnet.

    • Columbo:

The alien's line "Just one more thing" is a reference to the TV series Columbo. Detective Columbo would conduct an interview and exit the scene, only to return moments later and ask, "Just one more thing...".
