  • Heat - Southland

    7.0
Another strong Southland that finds a way to tackle moral issues, the hate that police deal with on a daily basis, all while keeping us hooked on the small arrests and hot pursuits that they go on.

From a writing standpoint it was strong, but rarely is that not the case.
  • A potent molotov

    9.5
After the promising opener, the second episode of the new season comes down like a hammer. Cooper and his new partner develop a bit more. And the relationship of Adams and her partner gets a little sentimental, but in a good way to counterbalance the show's heavy grit.

What makes this series often great is how it gives a post-modern treatment to the otherwise tired police story: moral conflicts abound, good cops and bad cops abound, dark and light in the same people. This episode delivers on that theme in spades, and the conflicts make for pretty gripping television. While this formula should be tired by now in this series, it still remains fresh, compelling, and still works. One of the better episodes of this series (let alone season).moreless
