Finally - Sideways was Southland as I remember it.

This episode had everything - excitement, humor, heartrending emotion. Detective Adams, worried sick about the prospect of losing her job, responds to a shooting which occurred during a robbery. Although she is later suspended and told to go home - she goes to the hospital to see the only eyewitness to the shooting, who was shot himself. Unfortunately, the bullet in his brain cannot be removed and he is hours away from death. Perhaps because she is feeling vulnerable, she bonds with the witness and provides him comfort before he dies. Chickie and Dewey kill a pedestrian during a high speed chase. And Lydia finds out who actually sold the photos of the celebrity murder case. Meanwhile, Sammy Bryant cannot identify the man who killed his partner, and turns to Tammy in his grief. The episode was nearly perfect; hopefully the rest of the season will be as good.moreless
