Space: 1999

(ended 1977)

  • Season 1 Episode 1: Breakaway

  • Nordstrom's name is spelled "Nordstrom" on Dr. Russell's monitors, but it is spelled "Nordstom" on his helmet.

  • As Koenig, Bergman and Collins watch the two astronauts at a waste dump, one of the astronauts jumps into the buggy and in doing so, his helmet almost flies off.

  • In this episode only, the screens in the Eagle cockpits are colour but black and white in subsequent episodes.

  • The news reporter says that the space dock was blown out of orbit though it clearly exploded.

  • Without air or another gasous medium through which to travel, there could not have been any lightning coming from the waste dumps on the moon.

  • Despite what the "The Dark Side of the Moon" caption says, there is no dark side of the moon. One side of the moon always faces away from Earth, but both sides get sunlight for about two weeks at a time as the moon orbits the Earth.

  • When Koenig stuns Collins when he goes crazy, the beam from his gun doesn't orginate anywhere near it, instead appearing to come from just above the gun.

  • Goof: In the opening sequence, when Nordstom goes crazy, he picks up Steiner to throw him. As he does, the visor on Nordstom's helmet swings open for a second - long enough to kill him on the moon! But he survives another 5 seconds or so until his faceplate cracks against a rock. How did they miss that in editing???
