I have to say that I thought this would be easy. You would think so since, I am starting the thread.

I love 1st Lt. Cooper Hawkes and even, more so Lt. Col. Tyrus Cassius McQueen. Ya, the Tanks.

I liked the character growth in others but this one character always made me cheer when he came on. I have to say my favorite character is Commodore Glen van Ross played by Tucker Smallwood. - "Now hear this, CFB! This is Operation Red Baron! All our plans are on hold until this Chig dies! I want you to go out there, find this bastard, and you pile on!"

it's a toss up between McQueen and Cooper.. I love them bad boys with bad attitudes.

Nathan always seemed kinda whiney to me...

hmm nipple neck lovers! Youre as bad as the AI's...

Again, only messing with you guys. I know what you mean about nathan, I think he was supposed to be the alpha male all-round-hero type, but he never quite made the grade as far as I was concerned. Its actually been so long since Ive been able to see SAAB Im ashamed to say Ive forgotten most of the names. I really liked the dark haired woman with the sexy lips, but if I was choosing a guy to be, Id want to be the younger invetro guy, I think that was coop but Im not certain.

For main characters it'd have to be McQueen (especially after the episode "The Angriest Angel") but i did enjoy French Stewart's turn as a found colony survivor.

Most everything I see French Stewart in I hate. I do agree with you that he did a really good job as "the farthest man from home" (as he kept saying).
I watched that episode twice before I realized it was him. The better the acting the more they just blend into the world they are playing.

AS I am just re-watching the series on DVD (an incredible treat I might add as the format is really suited to the beautiful visuals found in this series) I am withholding comment until I see all the episodes again.  McQueen is easy to like, but at the beginning of the series (I have only watched the first 3 eps so far) he is a little wooden I find.

I do find Wang gets some funny lines but his character has not yet had the backstory to the extent that Vansen, West and Hawkes receive right from the first episode.

Will post again once I have made some headway on the episodes.

PS - one of the threads noted a new forum for SAAB at http://web-worthy.com/saab which I just visited and it is very active.  So I am going to join over there under my same id, and hope to see you all over there as well.  I will still post here to however, the SAAB forum at web-worthy seems to be very active, hundreds of posters which is nice, this series deserves it.

I saw West as the spoiled rich boy, in it for selfish reasons. For that, I thought his whiny character was fitting. He became more of a soldier as the season moved on. He became tougher, more dedicated, overcame his prejudice toward Hawkes.

Anyway, Shane was the one who emerged as leader, not West.

I really started to like Wang in the end, but Hawkes was always my favourite.

My favorite is Vansen, I like strong female characters and she's one.

Next is McQueen because he reminds me of a lot of officers I met in the Corps.

Wang is last, he made me laugh.
