  • If I was to say other than the Pilot Episode this one is the next best thing.

    8.8
I don’t get it. It took the show’s producers to make up a good introduction credits and then after one episode they don’t use it. It puzzles me that there is no consistency. And they do it to one of the best episodes of the series. This is more or less part two of the previous episode where a new alien craft is terrorizing and dominating the area of space it is in. I was surprised that another pilot other than the five made it to a second episode. There were some answers also about what that mysterious object they took from an alien world a few episodes back. Once again for the flagship security was so lax that a saboteur stuck twice before he was caught. The final battle was great and so was the interrogation of the prisoner. I like to do whatever it takes to win from Mcqueen.moreless
  • Maybe the best 2nd half of a two parter, ever!

    10
Not since Magnum PI's "Have your seen the Sun Rise, part 2" has there been such a better payback, this was the 2nd half to "Never No More". The inter-cutting between the funeral and the dog fight caused a great deal of emotion, in me. My eyes waters while a mumbled "Kill the F@#$er". And it was the best dog fight EVER, OoH RAH! Semper Fi!
  • Interesting character development with Colonel McQueen.

    9.0
This was a pretty good episode. There however were a few things that seemed a little forced to move the plot along. First was Winslow. She has been little more than an extra for the last several episodes with few if any lines. Now all of a sudden she gets it in her mind to try to get the Colonel into bed with her. Eventually after a first rejection which I will get to in a minute he actually takes her into his confidence which is not only surprising given his first reaction but seems very out of character for McQueen. I do like the tidbit of information he does give her about his ex-wife. That was not expected. But regardless I have a problem with that whole plot device used to extract this information.

Second the blow up that McQueen had in the off duty room seemed forced. Granted he was feeling very stressed about the whole Red Baron situation but he has always acted and even voiced the strong feelings he has for the 58th and telling them he doesn't want them as friends just rings false to me after all the times he went to bat for them when everyone else assumed they were dead.

The rest of the episode was great. The idea of using the fuel for a super missle was good, and the AI saboture was a good if not extranous side plot. It was however, important information to glean from my boy Elroy that the Chigs already know about the big invasion plan and in fact have been watching the humans for much longer than they have known about the Chigs. Another surprising addition of knowledge.

Other than the strange changes of character in McQueen and the sudden inclusion of Winslow just to have her killed off, brought this episode down from amazing to just better than most.moreless

    • Chaplain: Colonel McQueen. Perhaps you should make peace with your maker.
McQueen: My maker was some geek in a lab coat with an eye-dropper and a petrie dish. What do I need to make peace with him for?
Chaplain: At these times we should all make peace with our maker.
McQueen: With all due respect, Chaplain, I don't think our maker wants to hear from me right now. Because he knows I'm going to go out in that sky in this plane and remove one of his creations from his universe. And when I return, I'm going to drink a bottle of scotch as if it were Chiggy von Richthofen's blood and celebrate his death.
(McQueen turns and walks angrily away)
      Chaplain: (essentially to himself) Amen.

    • McQueen: I know now with certainty who I am. But I'll be damned if I'll ever know the point. And now, all I can ask is: Who was he, and who was she? And what was the point?

    • Ross: Chance? Colonel, even if the device in your thick skull does not full on erupt during ACM, it would at the very least stress your temporal lobe to the point of loss of consciousness, seizure and death! I refuse to hand the Chigs a 'gimmie'!

    • Wang: (after Hawkes screws up a game of Foosball) Hey Colonel, come on. I need a new guy on my team.
McQueen: Guy?! What do you think, we're back in the block smokin' and jokin'?! Hear this loud and clear marine: I am not your guy! I am not your Joe, I'm not your damn drinking buddy, and I sure as Hell am not a mark in a singles bar! You hear this CFB, I AM NOT HERE TO MAKE FRIENDS!

    • McQueen: There can be no redemption, no second chance. Beyond death there's nothing, just darkness, and cold.
