went to a friend s house , he had the 2 first episodes somehow . So we planed to watch that for the night .

But it sucks . if you loved gladiator or liked 300 , then this show will be a disapointment .

it s a joke ... the storie , is a mix from 300 and gladiator , so predictable it s not even fun to watch ..

but the worst part is the script and the dialogues , it s seriously lame ...

I dont want to sound like a hater , but I have to agree , the acting feels like porn stars reading the paper ..( eventhough the main actor is alright)

it seems they just decided to take rome , and lot of sex part ( dont even have a purpose ) , and blood ( even worst than 300 , not that i care too much , but somehow in this show in felt like too much )

so , i dont know , what to say or think really . IT COULD HAVE BEEN GREAT , but it s sadly NOT ..

whoever made it , lacked of the magic touched .

ps : ok , one good point for a tv show the action part are pretty sweet .

Well this story did actually happen 2100 years ago
Perhaps not with this much awesomeness involved. Actually, probably even more awesomeness involved: RL stories > Tv stories

    I agree with this appraisal.

The Spartacus tale needs to be told with a realistic amount of violence and the decadence of Rome should be shown equally realistically, but the Director of this series seems to have just watched 300 then Gladiator and topped that off with a viewing of Caligula.

Then he has tried to recreate all three of them mashed together with the help of a script that sounds like it has been written by an Australian Sailor.

really? I don't think it was that bad. I enjoyed both episodes and I think the actors are great and the dialogue isn't bad at all.

I agree it was gladiator meets 300 without any of the redeeming features of either one. Its more like the director took both movies ate them and puked up parts of them. Its trying to be realistic and comic book at the same time and that just don't work. One or the other, not both.

Man, the creators of this show should have watched HBO's Rome as an example on how to do a period piece like this correctly. At minimum, they could have gotten leads that could act.

Still, the show isn't hopeless. It does have potential.

I loved Gladiator, the original Spartacus movie, and never saw 300 (I know, I know!) but this pilot wasn't good. I did enjoy the special effects and the fight scenes though, but I think CG was overdone.

Just watched the first episode and I rather enjoyed it. Bad acting? Well, to each his own, but I thought the acting was as good as most shows of this nature. I'm looking forward to seeing the rest of the episodes. So who is the actress playing the blonde wife of the Roman who enslaved Spartacus, the girl who gets fully naked?

I liked it OK. I think it will get better. I don't care for the actor who portrays Spartacus. They should have gotten a stronger actor for the lead. The rest of the cast is fine, especially Lucy Lawless.

I have seen the first 2 episodes and i reall enjoyed it! Fair enough there is a bit too much blood sometimes, but i do not care as for me it adds a comic book style feel to the show.

I'm finding it kind of cliche...but have not yet given up. There is lots of potential in the premise, if it would just stop trying to PROVE how "ground-breaking" it is!

I watched it and I enjoyed it. If it was a movie i probably wouldn't have liked it as much but as a series I love it. I'm on the 5th episode now and in my opinion it gets better and better!

I love this show!!! It is so good that I even think it is better than Rome, not because of the plot or any deep storyline, but because it is so much FUN to watch! I hope they make at least 30 more episodes of this! Wonderful entertainment!

I think the lead is fine for Spartacus. His role is rather limited so far.

Spartacus is no longer a disappointment, the show has surely grow a lot, even with all the excess blood "special' effects.

Agree with what most people are saying, the show has grown by leaps and bounds. Initially I was bit put off by the simple plot and irritatingly weak antagonistic role of Spartacus. Things have certainly changed though. Sure, it's not very realistic, but I don't think it's supposed to be. The graphic novel style this is supposedly makes me think of over the top visual eye candy with deep dark twisty plots. All in all, I think it's very cool and fresh for a tv show. The slow mo, blood spattering, simulated outdoor environments, and lighting make it very surreal and a feast for the eyes.
