  • Great Prequel to "Spartacus: Blood and Sand"

If you liked "Spartacus: Blood and Sand", there's no way you won't enjoy this one! This short series was a way the producers found to take advantage of the success of the original one, while the actor Andy Whitefield (Spartacus) was fighting a battle against cancer (which, unfortunately, he eventually lost). It takes place before the arriving of Spartacus and it shows the rise of the House of Batiatus with its star gladiator Gannicus. It's nicely written since it tells a bit of every major character's story (Crixus, Doctore, Solanius, Batiatus and Lucretia). All the elements that made Blood and Sand highly entertaining are also here: intrigue, action, violence, sex and great performances! If you haven't seen any of the seasons and want to give these gladiators a try, you should definitely watch Gods of the Arena after Blood and Sand, since there's a scene in the end that gives away the finale of its predecessor - a very nice touch, by the way.
  • Too short but otherwise fantastic.

Loved the introduction of Gaia in this season and also the softer side of Lucretia... We get to see what made her into one of the most crafty and villainous women in the show.

Overall this prequel was a nice touch to the overall Spartacus setting, gave us a more in depth look at some of the characters as well as introduced an important character like Gannicus.
  • The love of violence

This show is downright violent with sex and cruelty thrown in to break up the bouts of slashing and hacking.

It's a great show and had me watching every second. This made for a perfect prequel to the first season and added much to the story. Well worth it.
  • The perfect Soap Opera for men

In essense its got all the stuff we hate about the avarage soap opera...backstabbing, deception, afairs. However it does it in an absolutly aplorable way that any normal guy will love, and it doesnt hurt that they have lots and lots of violence, blood, and gore, and to top it off lots of sex to go along with it. But it also noursishes a story that is well thought out and brilliant from start to finish.... so once again...In essense it is a perfect soap opera for men. Of all ages, shapes, and forms. (oh and for all the women that like to watch a show where every guy has a washboard stomach too)...So go check this show out if your not allready watching it religiously. And enjoy
  • This show is fantastic very realistic the action is spot on a great hours entertainment.

I have just watched the last episode of sands of the arena it was riviting its that good i,m going to watch it again.
The blood & guts are so realistic as it would of been like this in roman times. The sex orgies are spot on.The sceaming and plotting are as you would exspect from a son who has a father that keeps putting you down and hates your wife. The show will appeal to any one who likes action and sand & sandel movies i hope the producers keep this show going with more of the same thing as i was entertained.
