Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

FILTER BY TYPE

  • TRIVIA (2)

    • Nitpick: One man commits suicide with cyanide (thought to be connected to the CIA), rebels are thought to be active in the nearby hills, and then the officer in charge of preparing for Castro's arrival disappears just minutes before El Commandante flies in- why wasn't Castro's appearance called off immediately for security reasons?!

    • Goof: When Trout is ordering Shepherd to take Staff Sergeant Hackin out, Trout calls him "Hackett" by mistake.

  • QUOTES (4)

    • Matt: What good's it going to do to kill Castro?
SSgt Hackin: That's Washington's problem. This is going down in the history books!
Matt: Yeah, the chapter with Oswald, instead of William Tell. The world's already made him irrelevant. Don't make him a martyr.

    • Matt: (checking out Margo's disguise) Great.
Margo: Sure, if you're into network weather girl bimbos.

    • Lt. Col. McClain: I don't have the time, patience or inclination to put up with a bunch of unshaven, undisciplined Agency types. Now you may think you're here for some top secret fun in the sun, but without the proper orders the only thing you're going to see is the inside of my brig! Are we clear?!
Benny Ray: (takes off his shades to stare him in the eyes) Colonel, with all due respect, you're a man with a tiger by it's tail. Now, my compadres and me are down here to make sure that tiger don't turn around and bite you squarely in your ass, sir. And all you got to do is cut that blankethead, gyrine, real somethin' bull-crap, turn to, and get us whatever the hell we need so we can get our job done. Are we clear?!
Lt. Col. McClain: This is insubordination!
Benny Ray: Yes sir, it is! You're violating a direct order from the CiC! I was you, I'd walk real careful, sir!
Lt. Col. McClain: (stares Benny Ray in the eyes, then leaves) Give them whatever they need.

    • Margo: (after shooting an entire squad of HRT in an exercise) First rule of hostage rescue, gentlemen- make real sure your hostage isn't just another tango!
HRT Member 1: I thought you frisked her!
HRT Member 2: No, I thought you did...

  • NOTES (1)

  • ALLUSIONS (1)

    • Guerro asks Margo why they aren't in Santiago de Cuba covering the 26th of July Movement. This is a reference to the start of the Cuban Revolution which overthrew Batista in January, 1959. The 26th of July Movement's name originated from the failed attack on the Moncada Barracks, an army facility in the city of Santiago de Cuba, on July 26, 1953. The movement was reorganized in Mexico in 1955 by a group of 82 exiled revolutionaries (including Fidel Castro, his brother Raul Castro, Camilo Cienfuegos, and the Argentinian Che Guevara). Fidel Castro was born on a sugar plantation near Mayari.
