    Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

    FILTER BY TYPE

    • TRIVIA (4)

      • Goof: Margo says not even the "Federales" would come up there to enforce the law. Brazil, whose main language is Portugese and not Spanish, calls their national law enforcement officers "Policia Federal". "Federales" is a slang term for Mexican police. Many might make that mistake, but Margo, who is the language expert of the team, would have known that Spanish was not the correct language, even if she didn't know the proper designation in Portugese. Later, when the Policia check Keene's camp, they speak Spanish, as well. The soldier, finding a bottle of liquor, says, "Bueno", when he should have said, "Bom."

      • Sanchez mentions that he has a subscription to Soldier of Fortune Magazine. That magazine is one of the commercial sponsors of the show, and the mention was added as product placement, as well as a bit of humor.

      • Goof: Margo pulls a blood stained journal out from under one of the missing NASA techs. But the blood on the book is bright red, not brown, as old, dried blood would be. The Amazon Rain Forest is extremely humid, but after over a week the blood would still change color from bright red to something duller.

      • Nitpick: Trout tells Matt that the locals are blaming the disappearances on a lost Amazonian tribe that supposedly practices Voodoo and human sacrifice. Human sacrifice is an ancient practice in some parts of Central and South America, but is mostly associated with the Moche and Incas of Peru, not the denizens of the Rain Forest. Voodoo was brought to Brazil by slaves from Haiti, who in turn brought it from West Africa, but in Brazil it is known as Macumba, and would not be part of the native practices of a lost Amazonian tribe.

    • QUOTES (3)

      • Nick: (as he, Margo and Benny Ray sit in cages) Where the Hell is Matt going?
        Margo: I have no idea.
Nick: That's not much of an answer.
Margo: Maybe because I'm not much of a mind reader, Nick!

      • Benny Ray: You know, Delvecchio, there's nothing like the smell of cordite in the morning to make a man appreciate his right to bear arms.
Nick: You're a dangerous person, you know that?
Margo: You're just figuring this out now?
Nick: No, I figured it out when I found a gun taped behind his toilet!
Benny Ray: Hey! It's better to have it and not need it than to need it, and not have it!
Nick: Yeah? What you needed was another roll of toilet paper!

      • Nick: (upon hearing that their Brazilian destination is the Rain Forest) Aw, come on, can't we go to Rio instead? Girls there are a little prettier and a little taller...
Margo: Nick, I hear the jungle is beautiful this time of year.
Benny Ray: Right. And we're talking mosquitoes so big that when they land, people run out to refuel them! Bzzt!
