  • Racer X the real star of this one!

Speed may have gotten the credit but it was due to Rex. Had not Rex thrown the challenge. In order to protect his brother from the dirty Alpha team. As it is revealed that Rex is Speed's older brother aka Racer X and that he really didn't want to race Speed in the stormy night race. Rex had to run away from home due to Pops not wanting him to race as he crashed and burn. So that Rex can go and practice. Despite Speed winning the race and bringing down the Alpha team, Rex wanted him to win. As Pops decides that Speed has proved his worth and can become a professional racer despite some fears.
  • Though Speed is the hero in this series, Racer X is the real star in this storyline.

Racer X is better than Speed, and he can beat his younger brother because he has more skill and more experience, but when this espisode concludes, there are only two people who know this to be true: Racer X and Speed himself. Possibly one of the best endings in the entire series, Racer X and Speed drive across the finish lane, with Speed barely coming in first, and Racer X riding on one side due to missing tires caused by sabotage. The thing is? Racer X let Speed win, and Speed knows it. Only a race car driver of his caliber can see how much better a driver Racer X is.
The episode ends with Speed saying that someday he and Racer X will have a race between just the two of them, not for money or glory, but for the challenge and to see who the better of the two is.
