      • Lightwave (Aurora Dante) seems to be drawn from a couple of different Marvel Comics sources. The first is Jeanne-Marie Beaubier (a.k.a. Aurora) a Candian super-heroine whose costume featured a prominent starburst and who shone brightly when she was in physical contact with her brother, Northstar. The second (and more likely) inspiration is Laynia Petrovna (a.k.a. Darkstar), a Russian super-heroine who dated Iceman and was in the super-heroic Champions of Los Angeles with him during the late '70s and early '80s. Darkstar's costume also featuring a prominent yellow star, but was black instead of blue. (Although her earlier suit, worn during the Champions run, was blue and gray.)

      • At the time of the episode, S.H.I.E.L.D. (in the Marvel Comics) was an U.N.C.L.E.-style organization of super-spies run by the United States government. The acronym stood for Supreme Headquarters International Espionage and Law-enforcement Division (though it would be changed in the comics in later years).
