This is the worst episode of any superhero show, in any part of the world, ever. Words cannot describe how I loathe this episode. Making a silly old man the source of omnipotent power? What is it with old guys in cartoons supposedly being funny? I've never seen one that was. Especially not in a show like Spider-Man and his Sometimes Amazing Friends. I have some fond memories of this show, I'll admit that (The Prison Plot was beautiful for an 80's superhero cartoon), but none of them come from "The Fantastic Mr. Frump." Please, just nod and move on.moreless
  • Not bad, good action scenes

Poor Mr. Frump, a downtrodden old man who can\\\'t get a break. Then the amulet comes into his posession and things are looking up for him. Although Dr. Doom turns him against SpiderMan, it\\\'s easy to see that Mr. Frump is becoming weak to his newfound powers. Even Aunt May (who he apparently had a crush on) could see that.

I actually felt sorry for the poor man. He wished for a best friend and got a cat (pets are better than people anyways) at least he got to keep Mabel (the cat) at the end.moreless

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

  • TRIVIA (2)

    • When the heroes go after the amulet after it's broken, close shots of Iceman show him running while he's creating his ice slide. In far shots, he's sliding on it.

    • These three super heroes have secret identities, and yet they change into their costumes in the middle of a New York City street.

  • QUOTES (1)

    • Spider-Man: The amulet doesn't look right. Sure, Doom switched it, he's holding the real one.
Dr. Doom: Yes you fool. Now I shall have the power. Bolt of lighting, strike.

  • NOTES (1)

    • It's kind of fitting Iceman creates a fire pole to save himself after Doom destroys his ice slide. Five years after this episode, Frank Welker would go on to voice Real Ghostbuster Ray Stantz who resides in a firehouse with the rest of his team.
