There was expected to be a seventh season at the time this episode was filmed, once ABC let the producers know that the show was cancelled, this episode was re-edited to make it seem a lot more final when aired.
Michael Boatman & Richard Kind are the only regulars to have appeared in every episode since the first episode. Alan Ruck has missed 5 episodes this last season, and Barry Bostwick missed an episode in season 1.
Even though this is only the last episode because ABC canceled the show, it serves as a last episode. Think about it. Caitlin and Charlie finally become open lovers. Carter gets a foster child. Music: "Island in the Sun" - Weezer
Alan Ruck returns to the show after his hiatus in this episode.
