Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

FILTER BY TYPE

  • TRIVIA (0)

  • QUOTES (2)

    • Mike: If you take the fall, then the whole staff goes down with you. This way, only one person gets hurt.
Mayor Winston: But why can't that person be Paul?

    • Mike: Make sure this Tony guy doesn't think you're still dating him.
Nikki: Fine, I will die alone with 17 cats.

  • NOTES (8)

    • Michael J. Fox included this episode as one of his all-time favorites.

    • Although this is Michael J. Fox's last episode as a cast member, he returns for three episodes in season 6.

    • "Everybody Gets What They Deserve," by the Churchills, plays during Mike's final conversation with Nikki at the bar. This was the same music that was played during their first kiss in the episode "Internal Affairs."

    • "Glory Days" is played at the end because the character of Mike had mentioned several times in earlier episodes that he likes Bruce Springsteen.

    • At the time this episode was filmed, the show's future was still up in the air because ABC had not given the go-ahead to search for a replacement and continue the show without Michael J. Fox, and producers didn't think the show could carry on without him.

    • This was the last episode of Spin City to be filmed in New York (in the live studio and around the city itself). The show was filmed live in a studio in Los Angeles starting season 5. The move meant the loss of the Landmark Tavern bar and several recurring guest stars
      (such as Beth Littleford).

    • As a environmental lobbyist in DC, Mike says that he met a conservative congressman named Alex P. Keaton. This was of course Michael J. Fox's character in Family Ties!

    • Music: "I Try" - Macy Gray

  • ALLUSIONS (1)

    • At the end, Mike says that he met a Republican Senator from Ohio, named Alex P. Keaton.

Alex P. Keaton is the character Michael J. Fox played on Family Ties.
