  • Well written, powerful but very funny.

It seems that in many good sitcoms that the more serious the topic of the day is, the funnier the episode ends up being. This simple logic is especially true in this episode, "In the Heat of the Day". Racism is the issue tackled in this episode, as Carter is wrongfully arrested while jogging in Central Park. This sounds like it would be a semi-dark plot, but there is plenty of comic relief present, with some hilarious jokes put in at all the right moments. Also, in one of the subplots, Stuart tricks Paul (who else?) into thinking he is racist. This leads to two absolutely hilarious scenes. This is Spin City at it's finest, with excellent writing, quick-witted and sharp jokes, and superb acting (as usual).
