Spin Doctors (N.Z.)

Show Summary

Spin Doctors is a comedy series that originally aired on TVNZ, a public television network in New Zealand. It ran from 2001 to 2003, with a 30-minute episode airing each week during the television-viewing season. O'Connor & Associates, a public relations company that has a generally incompetent staff, is the basis for this situation comedy. The series begins as Hineroa (Kayte Ferguson) performs an image makeover for a client that has unexpected results and Giles O'Connor (John Sumner) provides media coaching that turns into a disaster. Later, the staff reacts badly when the PR firm's parent company is acquired by an American company in a hostile takeover. Giles is also unable to keep a receptionist for more than two weeks due to his fear of violating employment laws. Liz Brasch (Elizabeth Hawthorne) falls in love with a wealthy landowner from Hawkes Bay and considers marrying him. Andrew Couch (Mark Ferguson) must promote the firm's new charter with TVNZ to a skeptical media.
