  • A weak pair

Procrastination: I find it pretty "meh". There are a couple of funny jokes in here, and the nightmare sequence is cool, but it's mostly well as pointless, as the ending ruins it. 4.5/10.0

I'm With Stupid: This is my 2nd-least favorite pre-movie episode after Sandy's Rocket. Patrick is unlikeable, and again, it's pretty much pointless. There are some funny jokes again, but still, it's pretty meanspirited for no good reason. 3.0/10.00moreless
  • they're pretty good

I can't believe so many people hate I'm with Stupid.

    And guess Procrastination is OK

  • I enjoyed Procrastination. As for I'm with Stupid...awful for most of the parts.

Procrastination: I enjoyed this episode more its partner. The plot for this episode is about SpongeBob trying to finish his homework but he goofs off. I wish Nick aired the deleted scene though. It featured some live action sequence of a car (very random) and everyone outside. Funny moments are the beginning, SpongeBob slacking off throughout, SpongeBob cleaning the house, SpongeBob's dream, and I think that's all. The ending was just weird in my opinion...SpongeBob rips himself for no reason. Overall an excellent episode. 10/10

I'm with Stupid: ugh..a huge step down from the previous episode. Wow, this episode, let's go compare the other weaker pre-movie episodes (season 1-3). Weaker than Squeaky Boots, Ugh, Sleepy Time, MM & BB IV, and The Sponge Who Could Fly. This is seriously the worst episode for the good era (for what the haters are saying, not me, I'm considered a post movie fan). Not the worst of the entire show, I've seen a few more poorly done episodes such as All that Glitters,SpongeHenge, The Splinter, Dear Vikings, Someone's in the Kitchen with Sandy. and more rcently, Squidward's School for Growns Up (they're all post movie but that doesn't mean I hate that era). Anyway sorry for the off topic, I was comparing bad episodes for the show (pre and post movie eras). The plot was stupid,,,simple as that. I did got like four laughs and that's pretty much it. The rest was awful and I can't stand how Patrick (and his fake parents) was acting to SpongeBob. The ending was kinda nice when Patrick sees his real parents. Besides that and a few funny parts, a bad episode and I can't believe it's worst than any episode from the first three seasons. 3/10moreless

  • "Procrastination" was a simple but superb episode but "I'm With Stupid" was absolutely the WORST SpongeBob episode of all time

Procrastination: I thought that this episode was superb but the plot for it was simple. It wasn't my favorite SpongeBob episode but it was superb. I thought the scene with SpongeBob getting excited about Mrs. Puff's assignment she was assigning to the class was funny when that fish copied Spongebob and Spongebob said "yeah, I know". It was kind of boring at times because of the procrastination that SpongeBob was doing but it was funny when SpongeBob procrastinated on his assignment by cleaning his entire kitchen. I also thought Spongebob talking to Patrick on the phone was good. I took away some points because I didn't like it when Spongebob did his assignment for nothing because Mrs. Puff canceled it. Overall, it was a superb episode. 9/10

I'm With Stupid: This is absolutely... and I mean... absolutely the worst SpongeBob SquarePants episode that I have ever seen. I thought after Patrick's parents (which turns out they really aren't his parents) arrived, Patrick was being a complete jerk to SpongeBob and I hated Patrick so much in this episode that I wanted to punch him. Spongebob was pretending to be stupid just so Patrick doesn't look like a loser in front of his parents (who really aren't) and Patrick treats SpongeBob like he really is stupid when Patrick is actually the stupid guy there. I didn't laugh at all, it was nothing but horror in my eyes and annoying things in this episode. I felt very bad for SpongeBob. Patrick didn't even apologize to SpongeBob at the end of the episode. SpongeBob just left Patrick's house screaming when Patrick and his parents (not really) were laughing. Patrick and his parents (not really) laughing because they think SpongeBob was stupid was extremely annoying and I had to cover my ears because I couldn't take it. At the end, Squidward comes to Patrick's house and tells Patrick that his REAL parents were standing by his door asking "Where's Patrick?". I know Patrick is stupid BUT how can he not recognize this own parents, that is just HORRIBLE. Overall, this was absolutely the WORST SpongeBob SquarePants episode of all time and there was absolutely nothing good about this episode and I am never going to ever watch this episode again. I had to watch it again just to review this episode BUT for sure, that's gonna be my last time watching it, I'll watch "Procrastination" BUT not "I'm With Stupid". 1/10moreless

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

  • TRIVIA (36)

    • In "Procrastination", when SpongeBob is looking at everyone outside having fun, Sandy can be seen with her air helmet, but no suit. Since the opening of her helmet is considerably wider than her neck, water would have seeped in, and Sandy should be drowning.

    • At the end of "I'm With Stupid," when Patrick's real parents come, his house and kitchen disappear. In fact, it's plain.

    • In SpongeBob's dream, how is the little fire dude alive when he's underwater?

    • When SpongeBob was playing with the chair, the chair made a squeak that can't happen, because in the sand the chair will not make any noise unless it was on dried up sand. But there is no dried up sand in the ocean.

    • In "Procrastination," SpongeBob says, "Yeah, I know" the exact same way he says it in "Dying for Pie," a previous episode, and in "I'm With Stupid" Patrick says, "Who are you people?????!!!" to his fake parents the exact same way he says it to the strangers in his house at the end of "Prehibernation Week," another previous episode.

    • The candle comes alive and burns SpongeBob's essay to ash. Then when he runs off the desk, the paper is still on the desk (not burnt)!

    • Why didn't Mrs.Puff tell SpongeBob he didn't have to do the essay? She decided to cancel the essay thing when she forgot that she had to go to a teacher's convention.

    • In "I'm With Stupid," look closely at SpongeBob's red helmet. You see a ladybug in the left hole.

    • Right after SpongeBob writes "what not to do at a STOPLIGHT, by SpongeBob SquarePants" and it shows the clock, then goes back to the essay, it says, "what not to do at a SPOTLIGHT" instead of stoplight.

    • Five inanimate objects talk during SpongeBob's dream: the recliner, a candle fire, SpongeBob's pants, the clock-shaped like a snail's face, and the pineapple house.

    • In most episodes, Gary's snail food was Snail Nip or Snail po. But in this episode, it was Snail FUD.

    • After Spongebob writes "THE", it never appears in the other scenes after.

    • When Spongebob pours Gary's food into his bowl, the box keeps pouring even when spongebob went to get the ladder. Also, how did Spongebob keep pouring with one hand while climbing? That is, moving his hand through the steps.

    • The chair tells Spongebob to relax and put his feet up. Yet, there is nowhere to rest his feet!

    • During some moments, Spongebob's Gary clock is missing.

    • Also, how is there a reflection on the sand when he cleans it?

    • Spongebob writes the essay's title, but a few seconds later, when he writes the word "THE" on the paper, it's gone.

    • In Procrastination, the Closed Caption has alot of mistakes. There are letters missing, some of the words are not there, and some words are too close together.

    • In all the other episodes, Spongebob can barely lift a stick, and yet in this episode he can easily lift the giant rock over Patrick's house. What's up with that?

    • When Spongebob gets really mad at the end he runs through the wall. I thought it was underground!

    • When Spongebob was procrastinating, a mailman came, but it was about 10:00 P.M., do they deliver that late?

    • The yellow fish with the purple stomach was in Spongebob's class but he was the bus driver in Rock Bottom

    • After he gets his package, the TV reporter notes about Spongebob wasting time. When he gets out of the TV, the package is gone!

    • Since Patrick's rock is closed, how could there be any light in there?

    • When Patrick first handed Spongebob the note/letter piece of paper at first there was nothing on the back side, but later there was the letter "B".

    • Patrick, Marty and Janet are eating TV dinners on tables while they look at Spongebob and when the screen goes back to them, the TV dinners and the tables are GONE!

    • When Spongebob says, "All right, Mr. Essay" his pencil has no eraser and later it does!(?!)

    • How come the yellow fish with green eyes (Jimmy?) was seen in "Boating School"? He got his license in "Boating School" and drove a boat in "Bossy Boots".

    • How did the fake parents know Patrick's name?

    • In I'm With Stupid, the depth of Pat's home keeps changing.

    • In "I'm With Stupid" Patrick wouldn't need to make furniture out of sand, because in the other eps he has a couch and a TV at least.

    • In I'm with Stupid Patrick's house has never been really big.

    • In Procrastination when Sponge went to go get water because he was chocking the kitchen is back to normal.

    • How can Pat and Parents be sitting on an actual couch when the only one in the room is made of sand?

    • When Patrick went into his kitchen he did not have a shirt on,but then when he is in the kitchen a I'm With The Dummy shirt appear and then disappears.

    • Patrick never had a kitchen in his house!

  • QUOTES (28)

    • Marty: Isn't that right,... Janet?
      Janet: You bet,... Marty.
Patrick: (opens jaw) JANET?!? MARTY?!? WHO ARE YOU PEOPLE?!?
      Janet: Marty, I'm scared!

    • SpongeBob: Okay, Mr. Essay, I say prepare to be written.

    • SpongeBob: I'm not dumb! I have a brain! See, here's a picture of it.
Patrick: It must be actual size! (laughs)

    • Patrick's Dad: Wow! Son, you actually recognized us this time!
Patrick's Mom: And you remembered to get dressed today.

    • SpongeBob: I can't have this erasing shaving flying around my thinking space! So long, pesky particles!

    • Patrick: Look at the clothes. Only a guy with holes drilled in his head would wear that!

    • Patrick: And the shape... I mean I've heard of barrel chested... but never box chested!

    • Patrick: Dumb people are always blissfully unaware of how dumb they really are...(drools)

    • Patrick: Besides, we dont know any dumb people.
Spongebob: Don't worry Patrick. I'll be the dummy! When your parents see how dumb I act, they'll think you're the smartest creature ever.
      Patrick: Math is power!

    • SpongeBob: Patrick, if your parents think you're dumb, then they must not know what dumb really is.
Patrick: But don't they watch television?
SpongeBob: That's what I'm sayin', Pat. If your parents met a really dummy, they'd find out what a genius you really are!
Patrick: But don't genius live in a lamp?

    • Spongebob: Hey Patrick what ya up to?
      Patrick: Sleeping.
Spongebob: That's really fascinating. Are ya havin' a good sleep? Any interesting dreams you'd like to discuss? I remember this one time...
Patrick: Spongebob, you and I both know that you're just using me as a distraction so you don't have to write your essay.
Spongebob: Huh pa da, that is not true! I called to have an engaging conversation with you.
      Patrick: Well I'm listening.
      Spongebob: Uh... Marco
      Patrick: Polo. (hangs up phone)
Spongebob: Yeah Patrick I gotta get going. Got a very important essay to write! (hangs up phone) Geesh what a chatterbox! Can't he see that I'm busy?

    • Spongebob: 2+2=4!
Marty: You taught him math, too!
      Spongebob: NOOOOOOO!!
Marty: And you taught him to sing!
      (Sponge starts letting off steam)
Marty: Oh, look, now he's short-circuiting. I think you taught him a little too much!

    • Patrick: Oh, Spongebob, it's horrible!
SpongeBob: Patrick, you forgot how to eat again! I'll go get the funnel!
Patrick: No, Spongebob, it's not that.
SpongeBob: Darn, I like the funnel.

    • SpongeBob: Well, Patrick, I was going to ask you to go jellyfishing, but I can see you're having an episode.
Patrick: You know what, SpongeBob? Its all just fun and games with you, isn't it? Oh, lets go jellyfishing. We don't have any work to do! Life is just a bowl of fancy, assorted cashews. And no one has anything to wash or to clean or to wipe... or FABRICATE!!

    • Patrick: Hey Spongebob, got any mascara I can borrow? (pings his eyelashes)
      Marty: The boy wears make-up?
      Janet: What a card!

    • Patrick: Spongebob, my parents think I'm dumber than a sack of diapers!

    • Marty: Ha ha does he always do that?
      Patrick: Only on Wednesday.
(Shows SpongeBob pushing his nose and his pants falling down)

    • (Patrick's doorbell rings)
Patrick: Hooray, the idiot's here! I mean, I'll get it.

    • Patrick: So, what's on your mind? Oh, let me guess! NOTHING! See, that's funny, 'cause your dumb!

    • Squidward: Does this lovely couple belong to you? They've been standing outside my house asking 'Where's Patrick?' all day. It's driving me nuts!

    • Marty: Well when it comes to brightness you're about 3 watt. But this guy he's a wet match in a dark cave. He makes phone operators seem smart.

    • SpongeBob: So do you like being a mail man?
Mail man: It puts bread on the table.
      Spongebob: Rye or pumpernickel?

    • Fish Head: In other news, local resident SpongeBob SquarePants only has a few hours to write his essay, and yet he continues to goof off. (pops out of the TV) When will he learn? (SpongeBob karate chops the TV)

    • Spongebob: But Patrick, the only thing I've ever seen you clean is your plate.

    • Spongebob's house: Why? Why did you set me on fire, Spongebob? WHY? Why didn't you just write your essay?

    • Patrick: SpongeBob, show them your house.
(SpongeBob lifts up his shirt and shows them a blouse)
Patrick: Not your blouse, SpongeBob, your house.

    • Janet: He lives in a fruit?
      Marty: That's unhealthy!

    • Patrick: Were those too complicated for you? I'll try dumbing them down a bit.

  • NOTES (21)

    • ted (2012)

The shot where SpongeBob wakes up from his nightmare and says, "Do I dare look at the clock." is seen in the movie Ted, directed by Seth MacFarlane, when Ted and John are getting high in the morning.

    • Home Improvement
When SpongeBob goes over to Patrick's house, he asks Patrick what is with his Home Improvement, then Patrick barks. This may be an allusion to the show, Home Improvement, where the main character, Tim Taylor, hosts a TV show about Home Improvement and grunts, which may be what Patrick attempts to do with his barking.

    • The Simpsons
It's possible that Patrick's parents are a parody of Homer and Marge from The Simpsons.

    • Title: Im With Stupid
This was a take on of the I`m With Stupid T-Shirts.

    • Scene:
Spongebob's mad run through his house during his dream/hallucination in "Procrastination" feature melting clocks in the background, a reference to Salvador Dali's infamous painting "The Persistance of Memory". Though Dali had many paintings with melting clocks, this is the most famous, and probably the one the writers saw.
