When SpongeBob rebuilds the book, Squidward's nose drips and falls down, but in the next scene, it's back to normal.
Mr. Krabs has a customer counter next to the front doors of the Krusty Krabs. It read 350 before SpongeBob's swearing rant.
Mr. Krabs injured his foot after tripping over some items for SpongeBob and Patrick to do as punishment for swearing. However, after the rant, while SpongeBob and Patrick went to tell his mother, Mr. Krabs seems to make a full recovery as he chases after them.
Just before using his own curse, Mr. Krabs injured his left foot! However, during the his rant, it switches to his right foot before SpongeBob and Patrick run to tell Mr. Krabs' mother.
This is the second time Squidward tells SpongeBob to "FORGET THE BOOK!!" The first was in "Dying for Pie."
After Mr. Krabs told SpongeBob and Patrick to "wait there", why didn't SpongeBob and Patrick run away when they had the chance?
When SpongeBob is talking into the microphone, and you replace the dolphin noise with the F word, the sentence actually sound correct. Therefore, he might have been using the F word the whole time he was talking on the microphone.
If you listen closely when Mr. Krabs tells them how many bad words there are and Patrick comments, you hear him say "Wow that's a lot of ****ing bad words." Also you can read that he might have said the F word.
The Pirate Captain who sold Squidward the pie bomb in "Dying for Pie" makes a quick return in "Sailor Mouth."
When SpongeBob says "let's play a nice wholesome game of Eels and Escalators," we see a close up of the board, and you can see Patrick's legs. But he is actually lying on his stomach during the scene!
This is the second time we see Mr. Krabs in the bathroom.
This is the second time the Krusty Krab clears out while Mr. Krabs is in the bathroom.
How did SpongeBob and Patrick know Mr. Krabs was saying all thirteen bad words when they only knew #11? They couldn't have heard the censor sounds, could they? Did he just guess?
The episode "Sailor Mouth" has audio commentary on the "SpongeBob SquarePants Complete 2nd Season DVD."
When Patrick and SpongeBob are telling Mrs. Krabs what Mr. Krabs had said, you can hear Mr. Krabs in the background say, "Don't listen to them. They're ***ucking liars." However, the beginning of the word was cut out when SpongeBob's curse word was bleeped.
In Artist Unknown. Squidward teaches his art class in the same building as the marching band were practicing in Band Geeks.
In "ARTIST UNKNOWN", when Spongebob said, "I'm sorry, Squidward, I'll listen.", the caption actually left out Squidward's name from SpongeBob's quote. The same thing happened when SpongeBob said "I don't know, Squidward... that's not in the book."
When Spongebob is counting the bad words that Krabs is saying, he is saying, "Five, six, seven..." but in captions it actually said "Five, six...".
If you look closely a Spongebob's lips while he's saying the "bad word", you can see exactly what he is saying!
In the episode "Sailor Mouth", Spongebob & Patrick play Eels & Escalators. What would happen if they rolled one eel and one escalator?
When Patrick and Spongebob wipe off their tongues in "Sailor Mouth", you can see that Patrick's tongue is a dark pink and Spongebob's tongue is Patrick's skin color.
In "Sailor Mouth", when Mr. Krabs has his fusilade of cursing, he does swear thirteen times, but he says several words more than once.
In Sailor Mouth Spongebob DOES have 10 Fingers!!!!!!!!
On the chalkboard in Artist Unknown, there something that said Clas 101. Class is misspelled.
On the Dumpster Of 'Sailor Mouth', While Pat and SB talk, you might be able to see the letter of the 'bad word' in the Sentence 'Krabs is a ...' I am pretty sure it's there...
When Patrick came in to tell Mr. Krabs that SpongeBob said the swear word, he had ice cream all over his face. In a few seconds, it's gone.
After Mr. Krabs comes out of the bathroom to ask Squidward why there aren't any customers, he has toilet paper on his foot. In a few seconds, it isn't there anymore.
Patrick: Classy sophisticates like us should not stain our lips with cursing.
SpongeBob: Yea, verily!
SpongeBob: Squidward, look. It's ole' bold and brash.
Squidward: Gimme that! (rips paper) There is nothing artistic about leapfrog!
SpongeBob: So where's the teacher?
Squidward: You're looking at him.
Fish: Oh, this isn't cooking? Sorry.
Squidward: Ah, how I have dreamed of this day.
Squidward: I'll go down in history.
Mama Krabs: Ow, my... (says a word, but isn't heard because of a car horn) ...foot.
(SpongeBob, Patrick & Mr. Krabs gasp)
Mr. Krabs: Mother!
SpongeBob: That's all 13, Patrick. (gasps, then says to Mr. Krabs) We're telling your mom.
Mr. Krabs: No! Not me mommy.
Mr. Krabs: Now both of you wait right here, I'll be right back.
SpongeBob & Patrick: He said... (both say word #11)
SpongeBob: (to Patrick) I can run faster than you!
Patrick: But you said... (says bad word #11)
SpongeBob: Ha! Now I get to tell.
Mr. Krabs: Now promise me you'll never say that word again.
SpongeBob & Patrick: We promise.
Mr. Krabs: (gasps) SpongeBob and friend! Front and center!
Squidward: (to SpongeBob) Forget about the book!
Squidward: I'm sorry, but class is dismissed.
Patrick: Ha. Ha. See you at the Krusty Krab, SpongeBob. Ha. Ha.
(The truck he's riding on turns at the wrong corner)
Patrick: Oh, nooooooooooooooooooo!
Mama Krabs: My poor, old heart!
Mr. Krabs: Oh, dear mother! (to SpongeBob) You should be ashamed! Making an old lady faint with your sailor talk!
SpongeBob: (taps on the mic and speaks into it) Attention, customers. Today's special is a ******* Krabby Patty served in a greasy ******* sauce and grilled to ******* perfection! And don't forget to ask us to **** the ******* fries! It'll be our ******* pleasure! Hi, Squidward! How the **** are ya?
(Everyone is shocked by the naughty word SpongeBob kept repeating, which was indicated by a dolphin's chirp. An octopus mother covers her kids' ears and puts a cup over anothers' head.)
Mama Krabs: You should all be ashamed! If your going to talk like sailors, then your going to work like sailors.
Moneybags: Sir! I'm going to make you immortal!
SpongeBob: My lips are tingling from the spiciness of this conversation.
Squidward: Apparently, the two barnacle mouth brothers just learned a new word, and SpongeBob just said it over the intercom.
SpongeBob: (singing) Taking out the trash, taking out the trash.
SpongeBob: Hey, Patrick, how the (dolphin chirps) are ya?
Patrick: Pretty (dolphin chirps) good, SpongeBob!
Mr. Krabs: There ain't nothing fancy about that word!
SpongeBob: You mean... (dolphin chirps) ... ?
Mr. Krabs: Yes! That one! Now quit saying that, it's a bad word!
SpongeBob & Patrick: Bad word?! (they use their hands to scrape their tongues)
Spongebob: To the dump, to the dump, to the dump dump dump, to the dumpm to the dump, to the dump dump dump!
Spongebob: Patrick said uh... He said...
Spongebob: Well let's just say Patrick said a word that you said shouldn't be said and this particular word happens to be number 11 in a list of 13 words you said shouldn't be said.
Mr.Krabs: Right what was that part about the um...who now?
(Patrick busts through door)
Patrick: Mr.Krabs, Mr.Krabs, Mr.Krabs!
Spongebob: First I have to visualise my concept. (his eyes project from his head and move around the block of marble like searchlights.)
Moneybags: You sir, are the GREATEST ARTIST WHO EVER LIVED!!!
SpongeBob: (over the telecom) Hello, customers, nice (dolphin chrips) day we're having huh?
Sailor: Huhhhh, did he just say...?
Pirate: Aye, he did.
Mr. Krabs: Now I'm going to let go of your lips, and when I do, I want you to calmly tell me what is need to tell me. Understand? (he does so)
SpongeBob & Patrick: He said (says probably the F- word 'cause of dolphin chirp)!
Mr. Krabs: Ah, do my ears deceive me? You two should be ashamed!
Mr. Krabs: There are 13 bad words you should never use.
Squidward: Don't you mean there are only seven?
Mr. Krabs: Not if you a sailor, arr arr arr.
SpongeBob: Wow, 13.
Patrick: That's a lot of (dolphin chips) bad words.
SpongeBob: (ready to go home) Well, see you in the AM Mr. Krabs!
Mr. Krabs: Hold it, boy! (grabs SpongeBob) Take that pile of filth out with ya.
(Squidward holds up garbage bag)
SpongeBob: (gasp) Mr. Krabs! You shouldn't talk about Squidward like that!
Squidward: He means THIS pile of filth, you loon!
Patrick: That's one of those sentence enhancers. You use it when you wanna talk fancy.
SpongeBob: (reading) Krabs... is... a... hmm? Krabs... is... a... (dolphin chirp)
Trash Man: Do you kiss your mother with that mouth?
SpongeBob: Well, sometimes, but not recently.
Patrick: Hi, garbage man. Hi SpongeBob.
SpongeBob: Maybe we'll get 40 lashes!
Patrick: (imagines himself with thick eyelashes) AAAAAAA!!!!!
SpongeBob: Oh! Bah! (dolphin chirps)
Patrick: Ooh. You said #11!
SpongeBob: I... I didn't mean I mean Patrick some things slip out, okay?
Patrick: I understand. (sits still) MR. KRABS!
Squidward: I call this, "Squidward in Repose."
Mr. Moneybags: I don't think that will fit in with the other pieces in my collection.
Squidward: Why not?
Mr. Moneybags: Because it's an art collection!
SpongeBob:Mr.Krabs! Mr.Krabs! Mr.Krabs!
Mr.Krabs:What?! What?! What?!
SpongeBob:Patrick! Patrick! Patrick!
Mr.Krabs:Yes? Yes? Yes?
SpongeBob:He said,he said,he said!
Mr.Krabs:Out with it boy!
Spongebob Me and Patrick were playing Eels and Escalators and he was going up, up, up and I had to ride the eel and then we ran and Patrick he said some things.
Squidward: (when the head on the statue breaks off) My fame... my fortune... MY HAAAAIR!
Squidward: I call this "Bold and Brash."
Mr. Moneybags: It's more like "Belongs in the Trash."
Janitor: Whoops... I must've missed that one.
Squidward: Repeat after me. "I have no talent".
Spongebob: I have no talent.
Squidward: "Mr. Tentacles has all the talent".
SpongeBob: Mr. Tentacles has all the talent.
Squidward: "If I'm lucky, some of Mr. Tentacles talent can rub off on me".
SpongeBob: If I'm lucky, Mr. Talent can...rub...his tentacles on my...art... (smiles)
SpongeBob: Mama Krabs, he said (dolphins squeak) and then he said (dolphins squeak) and then he said (dolphins squeak) again and then he said (seal barks) and then he screamed at the top of his lungs (foghorn blasts). Then he (airhorn blasts), Mrs. Krabs. He didn't care. Such (seagull crows and buoy dings) I ever heard in my days.
SpongeBob: Come on, Gary needs a new pair of shoes! (rolls dice)
Patrick: Oh, eels. Too bad, SpongeBob. You gotta ride the eel.
SpongeBob: Darn. (moves his piece down the eel)
Patrick: My turn! (rolls dice) Hooray! Escalators! (moves his piece up the escalator) Up, up, up!
SpongeBob: Come on, escalators, escalators, escalators... (rolls dice, then sighs) Eels again. (moves piece down the eel)
Patrick: My turn! (rolls dice) Escalators!
SpongeBob: Escalators, escalators, escalators... (rolls dice) Eels?!
Patrick: (rolls dice) Eskeelators! (moves his piece up the escalator) Well, this is your last chance, SpongeBob. Or if you get eels again, you lose.
SpongeBob: (growls) ESCALATORS, ESCALATORS, ESCALATORS!! (rolls dice in slow motion) Ha! Escalators! (dice flips to eels)
SpongeBob: BAAAAAHHHHHH!! (dolphins squeak)
Squidward: Today, I will bring art to this wasteland we call Bikini Bottom!
Janitor: Relax. You're teaching art at the rec center!
SpongeBob: Someone didn't finish this one. 'Squidward smells?' (finger writes under it with the word) GGOOOODDDDD.
SpongeBob: (when Squidward goes crazy) Well, back to the junk yard.
Mr. Moneybags: Great head. (referring to shell over middle area on statue) Perfect use of Censorship. (looks at nose put on by Squidward earlier) This is the only flaw.
SpongeBob: Hey Patrick, do you know what this word means?
Patrick: Krabs... uh, isn't he the red sweaty guy you work for?
SpongeBob: Not that word, that word.
Patrick: (dolphin chirps) That's one of those sentence enhancers.
SpongeBob: Well, first I draw the head, then I erase some of the more important detail features & 1-2-3 a circle, thingy!
This is the first time SpongeBob and Patrick say bad words.
Mr. Krabs doesn't appear in "Artist Unknown".
We learn that SpongeBob has better art talent than Squidward, but in later episodes SpongeBob is artistically challenged.
Character Debuts: Mrs.Krabs, Monty P. Moneybags.
This is the first time Squidward teaches Art class in the series.
Mrs. Puff doesn't appear in this episode.
Sandy, Gary and Plankton don't appear in this episode; Patrick doesn't appear in "Artist Unknown".
We learn on this episode that SpongeBob is very artistically talented.
The noises for the 13 bad words are based on cuss words.
The noises for the 13 bad words were: A dolphin chirp, a foghorn, trombone noise, a trumpet parp, a coyote howl, a boat bell, a chime, a deep tuba sound, a didgereedoo, a louder version of the foghorn, a bird chirp, a phone ringing and a car horn.
DVDs these epsidoes are on:
Sailor Mouth: Sea Stories,
Artist Unknown: The Seascape Capers.
Squidward's quote: "I thought there were 7[bad words]" is in refrence to an old and famous George Carlin skit entitled "The seven words you can never say on television."
The sculpture that SpongeBob made on Artist Unknown was Michaelangelo's David.
Writing on the dumpster: "Up with Bubbles, Down with Air," "Patchy Was Here," "Neematoads are People Too," "Squidward Smells," "Krabs is a (dolphin chirp)."
Reply to 1 note: You forgot: Dogfish loves Catfish, Up with bubbles down with air and Starfish rool.
This is the first time there was a dumpster in 2 eps.
Squidward: Don't you mean there are only seven.
This a reference to the Seven dirty words in the monologue done by the late comedian George Carlin. The monologue was, of course, titled "Seven Words You Can Never Say on Television".
Squidward (yelling at Mr. Moneybags): Good day to you sir!
This is a reference to Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (1971) when Willy Wonka yells at Grandpa Joe after he announces that Charlie has lost the contest.
Mr. Krabs: You two should be ashamed, making an old lady faint with your sailor talk.
This could likely be a reference Dorothy Gale's line, "You ought to be ashamed of yourself! Frightening him like that when he came to you for help!" from The Wizard of Oz, where Dorothy and her friends were at the Wizard's palace and the Wizard frightened the Lion, and the lion fainted. The same thing sort of happened here, where SpongeBob and Patrick were saying all the bad things that Mr. Krabs said, and Mama Krabs fainted. Mr. Krabs' line here is similar to Dorothy's line after the Lion fainted.
SpongeBob: I think he'll give us the 40 lashes.
The Bible makes two references to "40 lashes," as shown below. While Jesus was indeed whipped (Matthew 27:26; Mark 15:15; John 19:1), the record doesn't state how many times.
One of the laws God gave the people through Moses was that when a person was being judged and they were guilty they "must not give him more than forty lashes. If he is flogged more than that, your brother will be degraded in your eyes." - Deuteronomy 25:3.
2 Corinthians 11:24: "From the Jews five times I [the apostle Paul] received forty stripes minus one." (39 were given to ensure that the limit of 40 was not exceeded.)
The game that Spongebob and Patrick play is Eels and Esclators. It's similar to the game Chutes and Ladders.
