  • Trivia

    • The scene when Mr. Krabs pulls up the Krusty Krab to retrieve the boots is a direct reference to Edgar Allen Poe's story "The Tell-Tale Heart." This parodies the final scene of the story when the main character pulls up the floorboards to his house to stop the beating of a corpse's heart and says "Dissemble no more! I admit the deed! Tear up the planks! Here, here! It is the beating of his hideous heart!"

    • In "Sandy's Rocket," when SpongeBob and Patrick first experienced no gravity, a book was one of the objects that floated. The book's title was "2001" which is possibly an indication reference to the 1968 science fiction novel/film 2001: A Space Odyssey.

    • At the end of "Squeaky Boots" when we see Mr. Krabs leaving with Pearl, he must've forgotten that Squidward is also on vacation, thus leaving SpongeBob alone at the Krusty Krab.

    • If the rocket crashed into Bikini Bottom and the tip was smashed into the ground, how could SpongeBob and Patrick take off again?

    • In "Squeaky Boots," towards the beginning, in Mr. Krabs' house on the table, there is cake. After it shows the table again, the cake disappeared.

    • In "Sandy's Rocket," SpongeBob and Patrick were stuffing the captured people in the rocket with trouble. Later when they dump Sandy in the rocket, there was plenty of room.

    • When Mr. Krabs breaks his foot, he goes back and closes it. But it opens and he looks at it, and it closes. But here, the foot in the hole, it is gone.

    • When the Bikini Bottom residents yell, "SpongeBob, we aliens would a word with you," you can clearly hear Patrick's voice saying this with the group, but Patrick thought they were real aliens.

    • Sandy says that the journey to the moon is for scientific purposes, then the screen shows a close-up of her notepad. A few seconds later, when she continues talking to SpongeBob, she is still holding the notepad, except this time, a few of the numbers are changed (like the line under the f(x) function, which first read x=60, then later read x=100).

update: Actually it is neither. The formula reads x = infinity. It would be easy to confuse the infinity symbol on my regular tv as being two 00's or a 60 whereas on my HDTV it is easy to make out the symbol.

EDIT: The ASCII Code for the infinity symbol is ALT 236.

    • Smoke from the rocketship gets into Sandy's treedome, which would mean that water could get in too. That would cause Sandy's house to flood.

    • When the rocket enters space and the gravity is gone, SpongeBob and Patrick stop abruptly and float. In reality, they would have still slammed into the back of the ship, as their velocity wouldn't have been halted simply because there was no gravity. This is also why astronauts travel slowly when they push themselves through spaceships and space stations; a big push would send them careening into a wall.

    • In "Squeaky Boots," Mr. Krabs trips and his feet come off. Next day, his feet have tape on them to keep them together. A little later, the tape is gone.

    • When Patrick and SpongeBob are in the rocket, the gravity goes off after the rocket goes out of the water, and it comes back on when they go back into the water. There is no reason for this to happen because just because they were just out of the water, not actually in space.

    • At the end, the spaceship, overloaded with the alleged "aliens" SpongeBob caught, crashes on the real moon, and when SpongeBob learns his mistake, the "aliens" yell "SpongeBob! The aliens would like a word with you." There are two things about that:
1.) Since there is no gravity in outer space, the spaceship wouldn't have crashed, and if it malfunctioned, it would have to be floating in outer space forever, never to return (thus the urban legend of the "lost cosmonauts").
2.) If the spaceship crashed on the real moon because of the number of "aliens" passing capacity, capacity does not have a big effect, since there is no gravity in outer space.

    • Since (given how Patrick and SpongeBob survive in there, and how Sandy wears a helmet) the rocket is filled with water, what good is the air vent?

    • In "Sandy's Rocket," the moon (when Sandy lands and when the rocket lands) looks VERY small.

    • When Sandy shot the rocks with her pop gun, she blew the smoke from the pop gun. She is wearing her air helmet -- so that's not possible.

  • Quotes

    • SpongeBob: Just goes to show ya, Patrick. You can't trust anyone. Patrick: Yep.
(SpongeBob and Patrick grab their guns)
SpongeBob: (pumping his gun) So, you were an alien all the time. And you didn't even tell me. Patrick: I didn't even know. SpongeBob: Yeah? Well, I got you now.
Patrick: Oh contray, it's not you that's got me. It's... (shoots himself) Me that's got me.

    • Fish: This is ridiculous!

    • Patrick: Look how big it is, SpongeBob.

    • SpongeBob: I'm ready, I'm ready! I want those boots!
Mr. Krabs: Sorry, SpongeBob, but these boots are far too valuable.

    • SpongeBob: Wow. Bikini Bottom sure looks different. (sees the Earth) Uh-oh.
Citizens of Bikini Bottom: SpongeBob, we aliens would like to have a word with you.

    • (Sandy shows SpongeBob her rocket ship)
Sandy: How do you like it?
      SpongeBob: What is it?
Sandy: It's a rocket ship, duh!

    • Mr. Krabs: Stop it! STOOOOOOP IIIIIIIT!!! C-Couldn't ya hear it!? Yes, I did it! I did it! I took the boots! They're here, under the floorboard! (sobbing) Oh please, make it stop. IT'S THE SQUEAKIN OF THE HIDEOUS BOOTS!!! (continues sobbing) I'm sorry, but I can't take the infernal squeaking no more!

    • Patrick: (playing on a gearstick module that he thinks is an arcade game) WOO! Yeah! High score!

    • Pearl: Oh you shouldn't have. What is it, Daddy? It wouldn't be those totally hip new flipper slippers all my friends are wearing, would it? Everyone wants them.
Krabs: (nervous) Uh… well, uh… they might be.
Pearl: Weee! (she furiously unwraps it) Oh, you shouldn't have, yay, you shouldn't have… (loses enthusiasm) I mean, Dad, (holds up old fisherman's boots) you really shouldn't have! (Pearl's friends giggle)

    • Patrick and SpongeBob: (Looking at water bottle) Twins...

    • SpongeBob's Boots: May I take your order?
Customer: Yeah, I'll have the Krusty special.
SpongeBob's Boots: Thank you, sir. I will squeak when it's ready.

    • SpongeBob: Sandy, Sandy, Sandy. There's evidence all around us. How can you explain cowlicks, atlantic, 99 cent stores? And what about those mysterious circles that come up in kelp fields over night? Ahh, there's one now!

    • Patrick: So, you mean to say that they've taken what we thought we think and made us think we thought our thoughts we've been thinking our thoughts we think we thought?... I think

    • Mr. Krabs: SpongeBoy, me Bob!

    • Mr. Krabs: It's not the boots, it's the booty. Uh, I mean, the person in the boots.

    • Mr. Krabs: Don't shoot me! Okay, shoot me, but don't take me money!
SpongeBob: We don't want your money, moon man. (Fires net at Mr. Krabs)

    • Patrick: Hey, who turned the heavy back on!
      SpongeBob: We must be landing.

    • SpongeBob: So, you were an alien all along?! And you didn't even tell me!
      Patrick: I didn't even know!

    • SpongeBob: Nice try... "Sandy."
Patrick: Or should I say Miss AlienPants?

    • Patrick: Pardon my French, but, GET THIS THING OFF ME!!!

    • Mr. Krabs: It's the squeaking of the hideous boots!

    • Everyone: SpongeBob, we "aliens" would like a word with you!

    • SpongeBob: Hey! You got your toothpaste in my peanut butter!

    • Mr. Krabs: Here is the pay check I owe you, plus a bonus..... (takes bonus away): Well, here is your pay check, anyway.

    • SpongeBob: ...Why did you eat my boots, Mr. Krabs?

    • Mr. Krabs: What would you like?
Fish: Yeah, I'll have a (Squeaks)
      Mr. Krabs: What?
      Fish: I said I'll have a (Squeaks)
SpongeBob: I heard his order, Mr. Krabs. He wants a (Squeaks)
      Fish & SpongeBob: (Squeak together)

  • Notes

  • Allusions

    • Reese's Peanut Butter Cups
The scene where SpongeBob says, "You got your toothpaste in my peanut butter!" is a reference to the Reese's Peanut Butter Cup commercials where one man says, "You got your chocolate in my peanut butter!" and the second man replies, "No, you got your peanut butter in my chocolate!"

    • 2001: A Space Odyssey
SpongeBob runs around the sides of Sandy's rocket in exactly the way Frank Poole runs around the centrifuge in 2001: A Space Odyssey. Later, when Patrick and SpongeBob are weightless in the rocket, a slow waltz, a la The Blue Danube, plays.

    • Mr. Krabs: SpongeBoy, me Bob!
Krabs is referring to SpongeBob's original name, SpongeBoy. When Stephen Hillenburg (the show's creator) learned that the name SpongeBoy was copyrighted, he changed the sponge's name to SpongeBob.

    • Mr. Krabs: I took the boots! They're here, under the floorboard!
Like in Edgar Allan Poe's "The Tell-Tale Heart" where the guy admits he killed the old man after he hid him under the floorboard.

    • SpongeBob: And those mysterious crop circles that pop up in kelp fields overnight.
This is a reference to crop circles, which is when elaborate shapes are created in wheat fields which were thought to be made by aliens.
