  • Good episode, definitely an improvement over the last episode.

Spooks has always played with (And usually excelled) at playing with realistic events to create a taught, tight episode.

Which is exactly what this one did. This episode played on humanities natural fear of what will happen when the resources run out and the extent that we would be forced to go to secure them. There were several fantastic sequences in this, particularly the confrontations between Ross and Tazbekstan's leader and the scene in which Lucas ran to the internet cafe: Both very tense.

And with the promise of bigger things on the way (With the end sequence showing the impending danger) this season will hopefully improve and reach the amazing standards set by Season 7moreless
  • National survival and moral dilemmas

Britain will go dark and cold and poor if it cannot get energy supplies within a few days from Russia or Tazbekstan. Tazbekstan looks like the best alternative, but then MI5 finds out the real price for a deal. Yes, it will save the country and thousands of lives, but can people of integrity live with such a decision?

We have a sleazy Tazbek minister, the CIA is working with the Russians, and only MI5 can really be trusted.

The episode is packed with action, but we also get substantial character-driven moments with each of the cast. Drama, humor, tragedy and hope - the elements that Spooks combines so well. This is another unmissable episode.moreless
