I still quote lines from this episode. Okay, yeah, I quote lines from a lot of Sports Night Episodes, but that's beside the point.

The point is that this was a good episode. One of the things that always intrigues me about Aaron Sorkin shows was his ability to take characters to places that conventional shows don't. Don't beleive me? Watch the Entire second Season of The West Wing. In a small way, this episode does some of the same things, whether by creative choice or actuality.

With Isaac gone, tragedy had already befallen. What do you do with the tragedy? You make it worse...and you take your characters deeper. And over this episode and the next few...things just keep getting worse and worse...and then...the ultimate release...and life is good again. But you have to build the fall.

I applaud this episode for that.

I also applaud this episode for teaching me the value of exploding certain situations, and emotions. It's true. Don't make a problem worse by letting it fester...find a release, it makes the fall easier.

    • Natalie: Good News! Pluto isn't being demoted as a planet.

This has since actually happened. As of August 2006 Pluto was reclassified as a dwarf planet.

  • QUOTES (7)

    • Casey: Dan?
      Dan: Yeah?
Casey: I just wanted to say, that if anything terrible had to happen to one of us, I'd want it to be you.
      Dan: Thanks.

    • (after the studio and building are evacuated in response to a bomb scare)
Dan: Yeah, you know what else is a story?
Casey: That somebody tried to blow us up?
      Dan: Yeeeahhh!
Dana: These two are the biggest babies!
Casey: Hey, you're afraid of fish, okay? I'm afraid of dying in a hail of shrapnel... Who's crazier?
      Natalie: There's a concept!

    • Casey: (still freaked over the bomb threat) Is there anyone who can say anything that will make us feel like the smart thing to do is to stay in this building right now?
Dana: In ten minutes, three and a half million people will tune in to watch the two of you on television. Many of them will be women.
      Casey: (pause) All right.
      Dan: Okay.

    • Natalie: (watching a video in the control room) Does this include Seattle?
      Chris: Yes.
      Will: No.
Chris: (turning to Will) It does.
Will: (turning to Chris) It doesn't.
Natalie: The film from last night...
      Chris: Yes.
      Natalie: Seattle?
      Chris: Yes.
      Natalie: It does?
      Chris: It does.
      Will: It doesn't.
      Natalie: Dave?
Dave: Hey, Betty, Wilma! Is Seattle on the tape?

    • (playing off previous interaction about the Seattle tape)
Dave: Roll VTR, 60 seconds live.
      Chris: Standby 2, 2A, 4, and 5.
      Will: Loading FX 5.
      Chris: FX 5 is loaded.
      Will: No it's not.
      Chris: (Pointing) It's loaded.
Will: Because I just loaded it now.
Dave: (exasperated) I will kill you both with my hands.

    • Rebecca: Why were you avoiding me during the bomb scare?
      Dan: I wasn't avoiding you.
Rebecca: You were. We were out on the street for over an hour, it was a perfectly good bomb scare.
Dan: I tried to find you.
Rebecca: No you didn't. And every time I tried to find you, someone would say you had just left the place that someone else had said you had just been right before.
Dan: That was a truly spectacular sentence.

    • Jeremy: Natalie, stop walking! Nothing is the same any more.
Natalie: Many things are the same.
      Jeremy: Natalie!
Natalie: I believe that your decision making skills aren't the best right now. I'm taking you into receivership. We're not broken up.
