The old ads for the show said "the best hourlong drama on television is a half hour sitcom." This episode proved that.
For twenty five minutes you laugh and think with two humorous subplots and a what seems like a controversial and thought provoking main plot. Then...WHAM! It hits you with a huge surprise by way of a character developing dramatic monologue...that stills makes my eyes tear.
Superb acting by Josh Charles in this episode.Just...completely stunning. No weak links on the support for this one, but he just stands out. The rebel with a cause...and what a cause it is.
This was a wonderful episode of television and an exemplary episode of Sports Night at it's best. And ...what?...it's only the second episode? No show should be this good this early. But Sports Night broke the mold. I hope the mold never comes back...
