    ESPN went over the top for its coverage of the British Open, and much to the happiness of me, it bombed in the ratings a bit. It was the first time the event aired on cable, and why so many events have to be on ESPN instead of ABC I do not understand. Both are under the Disney banner, why not keep some sporting events on the broadcast channel to keep the affiliates happy? Winners Bracket and Homecoming with Rick Reilly are not going to get the kind of viewing numbers the affiliates want. And the World Cup only airs once every four years.
