Squadron

Show Summary

Royal Air Force military drama. The show revolved around the creation and deployment of the fictional 373 Squadron, formed at RAF Kingswell in the Cotswolds. It consisted of an unlikely mix of Harrier Ground Attack, and F4 Phantom Supersonic aircraft, C130 Hercules Transports, and Puma Helicopters. The squadron operated as a Rapid Deployment Force tasked to react to emergency situations anywhere around the world. The Ministry of Defence (MOD) sponsor, Group Captain Christie frequently found himself at odds with his peer, Group Captain Hall, the Station Commander of Kingswell, due to the unusual role of 373 Sqn. At the end of each episode a credit is given as follows, "The BBC gratefully acknowledges the co-operation of the Royal Air Force in the making of this programme".
