    • QUOTES (1)

      • Mathnet Announcer: The head of the car-theft ring, Henry Edsel, III, was tried and convicted of 20,000 counts of487.3PC car-theft gross. He was sentenced to an appropriate number of years away from society and the automobile after market.

    • NOTES (1)

      • The leader of the auto theft ring is only given the briefest possible mention on-air. Because he did not have a line of dialogue, he was not listed in the crawl.

    • ALLUSIONS (1)

      • Steve (or Sam): License number 313 313.
For quite a while, Mathnet cases seemed to use the number 313 in many ways. Steve Stringbean's kidnappers lived at 313 Glockenspiel Way, Hans Balpeen's car had the license plate "0 0 313," and now this.

It all goes back to the Michigan heritage for Mathnet writers David D. Connell and Jim Thurman. Until late 1997, the number 313 was the Area Code for The University of Michigan, of which Connell and Thurman were both alumni.
