There is an unforgettablescene in which one of the guys has an argument with his wife, and he leaves for work that morning without resolving it. Later that day,his wifedies in a car crash. He comes to the hospital too late, only to find that her heart has been donated to a transplant patient in the same hospital. The scene features him listening to his wife's heart with a stethescope while the patient bearing her heart is unconscious.

Am I thinking of a scene from St. Elsewhere? If so, which episode?

I might be wrong but I think it is Dr. Morrison's wife who dies by slipping in the bathtub(?) and Dr. Morrison then listens to her heart. I am not 100% sure. I haven't seen the episiode in quite a long time and I am not sure what episiode it is sorry.

LIW1867 is right. The episode was "Qui Transtulit Sustinet" in season 2.

And yes, it was a car accident. Very poignant episode.
