Staccato is a crime-mystery series starring John Cassavetes as the
titular character of Johnny Staccato, a private sleuth who also happens
to be a jazz piano player. Telecast from September 1959 until March
1960, the backdrop of the show is a jazz club owned by Stacatto's pal
Waldo (Eduardo Ciannelli). Not surprisingly, jazz artists like Shelly
Manne, Johnny Williams, and Barney Kassell appeared on the show. NBC
aired 27 episodes of the series, which were all taped in Los Angeles
even if the setting was supposedly New York.
